Has anyone got this, is it worth watching?

If it is ....... do you mind a Naki boy borrowing it? (I know that is rude but I got to ask!)

I was going to buy it, went on amazon.com last night and the write up wasn't the best! Instead I went to a KTM site and spent some money, so now I am broke again!

I am of course happy to reimburse you for postage and if we ever end up in a bar somewhere of course I will buy you a rum or to!

My God - there are some cheap bastards here . . . . and I'm one of them.
I've seen it, and rate it as a must watch.

I got it from the local library after I requested they buy it ( for the sake of all those all those other motorcyclists out there).

Several female non-motorcyclist friends have watched all 6 hours of it and enjoyed it.

I can't go the hard-core knockers who slag off the support that Charlie and Ewan had - hey, they've got a commercial thing going and why not - just as Top Gear hooks up heaps of non-car people, so the Long Way guys get a heap of non-motorcyclists watching.
End of the day - wouldn't we be there if only we could ?

I can honestly say that if my (now) ex wife and I had not watched The Long Way Round there would not be a big orange bike sitting in my garage tonight! I have no problem with Charlie and Ewen at all, and it has all been discussed many many times of various web sites.

I am now looking forward to watching them ride down through Africa, and who knows in the near future I may be getting on a plane with my riding gear packed in my bag ready to do my own big adventure, if not on my own bike, maybe a hire bike!

And to show that I am not too much of a cheap bugger lol, I have the anniversary edition "On Any Sunday" on video and am happy to lend it out.

Hey Young 1 I would love to borrow on any sunday & will swap you with either Faster (gp racing) & or Dust to glory (Baja 1000 - by Dana brown very cool)

You may want to try Jatz as he lent me Road to Dakar - Charley boorman again, to watch. It was excellent & now for some reason I want to get into sand dunes... I wonder if I could get across farewell spit....

I agree that if you go past all the staunch slaggers Ewan & Charley do more for motorcycles than any other people on TV (apart from the Teutils of course)

Wouldn't it make a cool win-a-wish prize to get to do the dakar all expenses paid.

I have done a few multisports races, coast to coast etc, along with a few enduro's in my younger (PE400) days. I can think of better prizes to win than that! Maybe a supported ride down thru South America etc!

What year CTC. I did 2000, 2001,2002 longest day. Would still prefer a ride thru Africa than that.

I still do a bit of training - last night I put the GB400 on the wind trainer in the garage. good workout but had to stop when I got sleepy - couldn't see the mileage I'd covered cos of the smoke:laugh:

I have now watched 5 of the six episodes and must say it is a very good series to watch. They show more actual riding of the bikes than they did in the Long Way Around. Awesome, well worth watching.

Imagine how pissed off I was to watch long way down & hear my brother is coming back to NZ after 30 years in Sth Africa. I was already planning my trip using him as a base (food bed & anything else I could bludge of him). In fact I probably could have talked him into buying a couple of bikes.

LWD was good but Mondo Enduro is more realistic. Normal guys on dr350's with no back up. I'll try do a torrent tomorrow.

The library here has a copy of the book, I have read it. They sure had a good time, almost made it sound easy, just get on your bike and head off! Suppose in some ways being in England it is easy, there is a long way to go before you have to stop!

Married with kids did not stop Ewan and Charlie, and if the wife had the chance she would learn to ride and come along too!

yehaa great sruff aye!
Im down in CHCH at t5he mo & went for a ride on a BMWgenx thingy - very forward seating right over the front wheel. Also rodea new bm 650gs - completely differnet kettle of fish.

Well it's got to be done- as soon as I win Lotto I will have to buy a retard, & a big shiny behemoth from Rolling Thunder as well. Hell I walked in to R T & nearly bought everything with chrome on - & I'm not even a HArley man:banana:

I am almost wetting my pants to get my new green KLR650 - a few weeks to go:clap:

Yeah I was a bit worried as reading the stateside forums the klrs are so hard to get dealers are selling them for up to $1300us above retail. Dont pass that on to the dealers around here though.

Thanks for the link.

Not sure if I like the idea of him doing anything else but motorbikes. At least with the lwd & race to dakar the bikes were the focus -hopefully it doesn't become another travel show as it seems like everyone (jack osbourne !!!) is doing one.

Still I enjoyed his last ones so shouldn't prejudge it. What kind of bike is on the link ? a KTM finally?
