Hi guys

We have to complete an OSH form for the Auckland Helicopter Trust for our visit to the base on June 28th. The visit is booked for 5:00pm (the riders expect to get back to Mechanics Bay between 5:00 and 5:30pm). The CEO will be there to give us a guided tour of the base! If you are intending to meet the end of the ride with money raised, or signed petition forms or both please register here as we need to say how many adults and children to expect. Thank you.

Look forward to meeting you. I will be the one that falls off the back of Maha mans bike, slapping my bum, with a very glazed look in the eyes after counting all the money we are going to raise!

Luckylegs + wife and 2 kids...

so that'll be 2 adults and 2 kids (despite my wifes assertion that it would be 3 kids).

Since Im just a "baby" in post count terms I cant see who commented on the helicopter avatar via Rep but yeh.... I found it because my kids got given a couple of them about six months ago. Unfortunately, Ive gone looking for them but cant find em (damm kids).

It would certainly be something worth asking the Westpac contacts about...

If id been able to find em I was going to affix to the back of the bike. In lieu of that Im considering painting up and old single seat race tail (which is shaped remarkably like the front of a helicopter) to look like the chopper.

Hopefully Westpac and the heli people wont be to worried about any trademark stuff (too much)

That would have been me with the rep. And dont worry about the westpac getting twitchy about using the image and name, I have had an email pasted here
Hi Anne & Mark

I am hoping you might be able to send me your phone number so I can call you. We were wondering if there was a way we can perhaps enhance the fantastic fundraiser you have been managing through some prizes and or other activity?

Would it be possible to have a chat?

Many thanks

The race tail idea is primo....do it I say!
The 1st lot of rep was from me......look after it....;)
Interesting notes: Was reading about the Westpac Helicopter last weekend and two points that stuck in my mind were....
1... it cost $7000 per hour to keep it in the air... (but if you are Lonely Steve then that figure is not right)
2... The trust do not get paid by ACC if they deliver a body ie: if a person that they pick up dies enroute, ACC dont pay out.

....And on that note,

Ive just sat and watched the Helicopter from the "Lucky legs, window on the world" (Read my CBD office window) go across the horizon which took roughly 47 seconds....

Thats (as equally roughly...) $97.38c just there.....

:gob: That makes ya think !

Scarey money really. I was reading in the herald this week about the effect the fuel prices are having on them too! Have you see the Motorcycle Trader just out? Awesome article in it about the rides around the country!

Hi Pete

LOL, you tell him girl!

To be fair, all I really need is numbers of adults and kids that are planing to be there. Mind you, it will cost a $10 donation to get on the base and to get in the draw for free stuff!

Please read the following information about our visit to the base.

Visit to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Further to your phone call we confirm you are booked to visit the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, 3 Solent Street, Mechanics Bay on Saturday June 28th at 5pm.

Before you arrive please take the time to read the following safety information:

• When you arrive at the Westpac Rescue Helicopter base, the group leader is to sign the Visitors Book
on behalf of the Group, giving name and number of visitors (ideally no more than 30).
• The Crew will give you a safety briefing. Please listen carefully.
• All children under the age of five (5) years must be accompanied by an adult constantly.
• No running, jumping or moving outside designated area.
• Shoes must be worn at all times.
• Watch where you move about. The helicopter has unfamiliar parts which may stick out – watch your head, where you step and where you back up.
• It can be noisy. There are ear plugs in the hangar if required.
• If you hear the Bell ringing in the hangar, the Rescue Helicopter has been called on an emergency. Please follow instructions of the Crew. They will direct you to a safe area to watch them depart.

Enjoy your visit to Auckland’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter!

I hope they don't decide to fly around just because of us. Coz that will cost more than the donations we make to them.

They wont be deciding to fly around at all mate. I agree with you, raising money and then seeing the bird fly over you for fun and at a cost of heaven only knows how much money is absurd!

The helicopter will be on the ground for us, unless it is called out on a 111 emergency. You will be able to meet the guys that actually man this helicopter when you meet us at the base.

I've never been to the base. So when I arrive *early i'll add to be safe* what do I do, will there be a marked bike parking where everyone will be? Is there a map of how to find th entrance as I've only seen the helicopters riding past, I don't quite know where the entrance to the base is.

LOL it actually got worse once we left Hamilton for Auckland. Thank you for your support too! We raised $1300 odd for our ride, the country raised over $10K in total, not a bad effort at all!
