Hi,
Sorry, off topic for you hardcore biker nuts. I'm after some advice from some of you that may go off roading on 4 wheels.
Some friends of mine are getting married next month and I'd like to club together with some former colleagues and get them some mud terrains for their s3 Landrover. Can you recommend a supplier in/near Auckland/Hamilton with web and/or email? I've done a yellow pages nz search but the choice is confusing and I'd prefer a recommendation if you've got one.
Also, it doesn't look like you have Colway tyres, a cheap budget but excellent performance remould m/t tyre. Is Kumho similar?
What?

That's no and no.
You are obviously buying for someone in NZ - do you know anyone else here? Not alot of tyre shops have websites, or even e-mail addresses that I can find, so you need someone to get on the phone.
A good start would be Tyre Works, Hewletts road, Mount Maunganui. ph: +64 7 5722968

Just about any tyre shop will do,the tyre market is very competitive and prices won't stray much shop to shop, but the bigger chains will be able to sharpen the pencil a bit finer and toss in deals like wheel aligment for free.
Kumo and Handkook are Korean, about midrange in quality and price, you can pay bigger prices for fancier names, but not get a better tyre for all that.Your big brand names are just that, brand names...your Dunlop can be made anywhere in the world, and the Dunlop name applied.Conti now own Simes tyres in Indonesia, and up till a few days ago a Conti may come out of Asia.
I have Federals on my 4x4,these are a cheap tyre made in Taiwan, mine are an off road pattern and noisy as hell, but work really well.I sell tyres by the way,and have no problem with Chinese tyres,we have a new brand out lately called Sunny Tyres, and have been fitting them for about a year, have some on a couple of my vehicles and they are much better than their bottom of barrel price suggests,I might try their 4x4 when I wear my Federals out.
