Well there I was, happy as a pig in shit on my new bike. Just got it back from compliance and picked up the rego. How much better can life be?
Well I’m pulling out of a car park when a car decides to reverse into my path (doing a U turn or something). I stop suddenly and put my leg down quickly. My leg muscle goes into spasm and there is no way on earth I am going to balance my new bike on my collapsing leg. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I put her down as carefully and slowly as I can on straight handle bars, but by this stage I can’t even support my own body weight, never mind trying to protect my pride and joy (the new bike).
And then in a blink of an eye, this biker buzzes in, jumps off, and takes the weight of the bike. He sorts me out, asks me directions to Titerangi, and then Like the Caped Crusader off he goes, just as quickly as he arrived. It just happened so quickly and I didn’t even get his name.
So if you are a Kiwibiker, I owe you a beer and just want to say a very big thank you.
The comradery of fellow bikers is one of the reasons I enjoy biking so much and I suppose I have done the same for others a couple of times when I have been in the right place at the right time; however it was great to see that a fellow biker was there to help when I needed it.

Yay!! What a cool story
Good on the guy for helping!
Ouch! I hope that was a momentary muscle spasm. No worse feeling in the world than the *sigh, I am going down * one. Usually reserved for the slow speed or stationary lie downs. Top effort to the biker that came and helped. No damage to the bike I hope?

Yes he was great. The bike has a broken front indicator lens only, so that is quite a result. I haven't had a detailed look at it, but if it is going to have to get Christened at some stage, this is as minor as I could have hoped for.
I didn't notice if he was wearing his underpants on the outside of his leathers. But it wouldn't suprise me and in my book, he has earned the right to ;)

You should pick up a lens for $20. The whole indicator is a little over $100.

Thanks for that. I have taken a good look at the bike and it appears that the rear foot peg took the weight, so I seem to have gotten away with it lightly.
Unfortunately the leg is not so clever. I seem to have pulled a muscle and it looks like a Golf Ball stuck on the side of my leg. May not be riding again for a few days.

Did he ride a blue Tiger? Sometimes I am enjoying myself so much I can't remember where I have been all day!
Any information would be of assistance. Cheers John.
PS: Good story, hope your bike is OK.

Thanks for the offer Mixone. It is not so much fun at <3500 revs. Won't be long though.
LOL Timber020 - If he had nicked my empty wallet, I would still have been the winner in the trade.

Give that man a beer (speights):clap::third::clap::clap:
Glad the hear the bike isn't bad, sorry to hear that it happened at all and I do hope you and your bike are reunited and have many happy rides in the future.
What caused the spasm? I know after my first bigger ride on mine (30 min or so) I had pinging pains in my leg muscles. worked out that it was stress of new bike syndrome.. too much tension.

"What caused the spasm?"
Well I'm not as young as I used to be and I do tend to cramp up very easily. Just putting my leg over the bike is usually enough to do it and I then need to let it calm down before I ride off. I had done this and as I was about to pull out of the car park, a car does a U-turn across my path. This caused me to stop suddenly and at that moment my right leg just wasn't up to it. It wouldn't usually be a problem. I guess I also need a bit of time to get used to the bike.
I have strained my hamstring and the physio this morning recons it will take 3 weeks to heal. I recon it'll be sooner. Thanks for asking.

Oh dear... Yep every bike is different blah, blah, blah (fill in the bits as you see fit). I also can't really see it taking 3 weeks on a strained hamy but then I can't see the extent of the injury. Take care and I hope your back up riding very soon.
