Well after about 3 years on a learners, I've decided to get off my lazy butt and start the full licence process. Reason being to buy bigger bikes from dealers funnily enough. As such, I need an L plate to sit the restricted test.

I never had one before because I believe its a money making scheme. If you have one displayed and are doing over 70kph you will get pulled over by a cop. If you only do 70kph you will be passed by almost every other vehicle on the road. Being passed by cars and trucks constantly is flat out dangerous. Therefore for my own safety and the safety of my wallet, I will ride without an L plate at 100kph thank you very much.

However as mentioned, its time to progress, so I need a plate, and have no intention of funding more cheesecutter barriers by paying for one. Especially not for a one time use. I will however fund the use of one with a 6 pack? :buggerd:

So you can afford the $400.00 fine for riding without an L plate (safety of your wallett...now thats original) - but you can't be arsed paying $2.00 for an L plate..............

My point being I won't get pull over doing 100kph unless I have an L plate on.

 Can't figure your logic there. You can get pulled over at any time, randomly... Does not matter what speed you are doing.... Could be getting on your bike and be asked for details.. Doing 100km/hr does not guarantee you that you won't be pulled over.....Never mind the fact that it is a requirement of having a licence that you display an "L" plate until such time as you have a 6R licence...

There are plenty of reasons why your licence could be checked other than speeding - compulsory rego/WOF/licence checks, breathtesting, involvement in an accident, etc.

L-plates are available at the $2 Shop and cost, surprisingly, $2.

I was pulled over twice when I had my L plate for doing over 100. The cops completely ignored the fact I am supposed to go 70. I think they understand just how much of a danger it is going 70k on a motorway.
Use your L plate and go 100, you wont have a problem.

Wasn't aware you could get one from the $2 shop, thought they were more like $10. In that case I will pop on down and grab me one.
