Hello all, new to the site - just getting into riding :)

i had been meaning to get my bike license for quite awhile and decided it was about time since my cars off the road at the moment (im a mechanic, constantly playing with it)
With that in mind i spent a few hours learning on a friends 89 XR200 before booking my basic skills test which i sat on a GN125 and passed (thanks Hamilton riding school) i then sat my scratchy test on Monday, passed that and went down to Boyd Motorcycles to organize a bike.

the bike i decided on was a Honda CBR125R, whilst i realize its not going to be quick it is cheap on fuel, easy to handle and fairly light which was important as my partner wants to learn to ride on it as well - also getting it new for $4700 was better than the over priced 250cc market.

after riding it since tuesday its a blast, awesome round town although it may be a bit small for me - but will be great once flip starts riding. having only clicked over 80kms now its still being riden easy to break it in - aparently i have to take it easy until its done 500kms then i can wind it up abit more.

anyway just wanted to say hi and start getting into the site

Hi there and welcome to KB. You'll have a blast no matter what you're riding. Great to hear Flip is keen to ride also. Ride safe.

cheers peter - at least my lil CBR doesn't suffer from gixxer disease - how long did it take you to drop that yellow/purple bike of yours again?

Are they two stroke? Because if it's a four, shit, that's a moped pretty much. Great learner's bike, but on the open road... poor gearbox and engine will be getting a workout.

its a four stroke - goes ok for what it is, didnt buy it to be a race bike... i use it to get to work and to go through the license process, after which my partner intends to use it - she just brought a helmet and will start learning in a car park etc on sunday if the weather holds up.
