Any good samaritans in the Wellington area?

Hey there,

Was just wondering if anyone with abit of know how and a place to work would be available to provide some assistance in rebuilding one fork leg?

I'm living in wellington now but currently do not have a place to work on my bike let alone any tools and my right fork leg has just blown quite badly. I'm semi mechanically minded but pretty new to it all so was just wondering if anyone had a little bit of spare time and a place to work in the wellington area? any help would be much appreciated.

Hey there riffer,

I live in Wellington City but i do not mind a commute, my bike is ride-able but the right leg likes to leak a bit. I just do not have a place to work on my bike or any tools with me up here currently. I am using third party seals at the moment but i think that is the problem and have ordered and paid for a new kawasaki seal which should arrive sometime in the next week.

Any help you can offer would be much appreciated as i am pretty new to the motorbike scene.

Hi RandyP,

Could be a non-OEM fork seal, although that's the least likely reason, despite what the Kawasaki dealer says.

Could also be:

- Rust on fork leg
- Too high a viscosity of oil
- out of round fork
- general wear and tear on seal
- rough handling (ie wheelies)
- a big bag (ie pothole).

Redoing the fork seal's not a big job, however it will take a couple of hours to do it properly. And you would be recommended to change the oil in BOTH forks at the same time to do it properly. I usually change both seals if I have to do one.
