I remember an ol' Zook bike running on racefuel that actually melted the spark plug into the head, that was a bitch to get out...
Dude, go to repco and buy a socket. Its not like your never going to use it again

Tis what I thought.
Just went and triple checked, my 16mm deep socket wont do it, I think its a bit skinny in the middle.....

Well back at this again, need some tire money so going to get the thing going and sell it.
Tried 3 diff 16mm deep sockets, no luck

Seems to suggest 18mm but can't fit my 18mm deep socket in the spark plug recess!!
Off to try "convince" it out.

get a new plug, buy/borrow socket you now know will fit.
I had an '83 XR 200 (2 valve motor) and had a normal deep socket that I used after the original tool got lost at woodhill - never trust the zip on the tool pouch ;)

alternative: when I had to do the plugs on my old vfr400, I ended up with a 1/2" socket with the square drive drilled out to fit a plug, welded into the end of a lawnmower tool that fit down the hole :niceone:
it took 3 hours of mucking around to come to that solution. ten minutes later i realised i had the vfr toolkit sitting there on the bench and guess what was inside it

Alex - I've got an entire set of deep sockets if you want to give them a crack, 3/8 drive. Just lemme know if you need em. Can throw em in a courier pack or go for a wander one evening during the week if need be.
Edit: Just checked the NGK website and it lists a DPR8Z as the plug. The D apparently means 12mm thread so that'll be an 18 socket.

I think they're the same as GB400 plug, which is 18mm. I needed a really thin walled socket as there is not much room around the plug. I ended up using a "box spanner" - pressed steel, but have no idea where it is now. The alternative was to grind down the outside of an 18mm deep socket
