Give me a text on 021 153 8264 when you want to go for a ride, and I'll get VTWIN to come along aswell.

The Haywards are nothing amazing, but if you so wish I'd be happy to show you. The Taka's are a given, and there is ofcourse the Pakak hill (which I don't really like, but some do) - Blakamin may be free to show you that one?

Let me know.

Tony - I'll be in for Sunday. As you are staying in my locale, I'll be happy to show you the way to the Takas.

I would imagine if you are dead keen, hows about this for Sunday:

Over the Rimutakas, to Featherston and then through to Martinborough to Flying fish for a coffee (a must).

Then back again to Upper Hutt, over Haywards (Haywards is nothing - 5 minutes if that) then Paekakariki Hill. After that, if you're still keen up to Reikorangi, and back down Akatarawa Road to Upper Hutt again.

Others will have variations on this theme - another possibility is over Rimutakas, Water Tower Road to Gladstone and then out along Te One One Road to Masterton, up north to Manawatu Gorge, then down SH1 and back out through Paekak Hill and Haywards to Upper Hutt again.

Anyway I'll text you my details. Safe riding. Simon (025 221 3776)

It's a little late now to get any definite answer regarding time, and for everyone to see it, so I guess it'll have to be 08:30 for me, IF it's not raining (better early than late).

If it is raining early morn, I'll head over some time later, when dry, so Vtwin, Velox, CSL, HerB4, Blakamin, Paul maybe we can meet up somewhere?

Yeah, I'm pretty sore. I've shifted the plates in my shoulder. Thank god I was wearing the race verts because the damage to them shows I probably would have broken my ankle. Celticno6 and I have assessed the damage and at this stage I have a big dent in the front wheel, bent forks, twisted triple clamps, lower fairing is destroyed both sides, headlight ripped completely out of its mounts, top fairing mounts twisted, and front mudguard was wedged into the radiator. Basically not a pretty sight. At least the tree it hit after it went through the railing stopped it going for a flyer down the cliff.

Celticno6 thinks I'm a nutter cause we used the duct tape to put it all back together and then I tried to ride all the way back the way we'd been riding all day.well ya know the storry-if a horse bucks ya ya jump back on again

Angry at myself is not quite the word for it. :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

After over 400kms of somewhat spirited riding its unbelievable that I binned it at 60km/hr on a bit of road I'd just ridden down.

Oh well motorcycles are just tools for learning. Sometimes you bend the tools.

I CAN CONFIRM THAT BIKE IS A BIG MESS. I saw XJ/Frosty (did not know who he was at the time) at Paekak Hill lookout - he had pulled in to park beside a 4 wheel drive thing and was obscured from me so I did not realise that he had crashed it until after a while I decided to wander over to be sociable as you do and was shocked to discover a duct taped/bungy'd up bike, fairing in many bits and headlight strapped to rear seat!. Could not believe he was able to ride it afterwards and I was a bit worried when he took off and I could hear rubbing sounds. Anyway nice to meet XJ/Frosty but sorry your Wellington trip ended up being a bad experience for you.

And you haven't noticed it yet, but under that little flap on the left-hand side, tucked beneath the fairing that was molded to sub-micron tolerances and screwed into place by a 55-year-old Japanese grandfather who hadn't slept for 63 hours, is the 'auto-wave-back' button...

Sorry to hear Tony man! :( But good to read you are still with us - i cant speak from experience but ive heard heaps of wise and experienced ones say this to others before: Go get that shoulder checked out! could be worse then you suspect (not that you suspect it isnt bad, because it certainly isnt good) and there could be something physio could do for you.

Second up when your ready to re-accept the beast that threw you and show it some love let us know if there are any bits you need that interchange with Viffer 400 gear, or what tools you maybe short of to complete any jobs.

Finally out of curiosity what was this VFR750 anyway? i heard nothing of it untill not so long ago and asking around still didnt get me to track a model down? RC24 was it?

It was (and still is) a relatively good condition RC36 (VFR750FL).

Nothing a new wheel, new fairings and new forks won't fix...

I guess the scary thing for me watching him go down (and I still have no idea how it happened) is that the bike slid and slid at an ever-increasing speed UP the hill until it hit the guard rail, went through that and wnded up with a tree wedged between the front wheel and the headers.

Lucky that tree was there though. It stopped the bike and the rider from going for a good long flight.

I've been worried all night about this! How could Tony bin the dread VFR and Stoney hole his radiator all in one ride?

Vicki got me thinking about it and regaled me with the tale of Hooks New Years Eve party and how they BOTH had to fend off the attentions of the neighbour! (I was outside and curiously no one flung themselves at me at all. Not even Elton John)

Could it be that she was mightily offended by this rejection and does in fact posses strange magical powers and has cursed you both? Could this still happen in the technology age you ask yourself?

While I was half asleep a string of curious conicidences unfolded to me (as if in a dream)!

Tony / Stoney (both names end in a Y)

The original incident happened in Palmy (ends in a Y)

It was nearly a tradgedy (Y)

The neighbour was horny (Y again)

It was a saturday (spookY eh)

The to bike incidents happened yesterday (2 x Y's in that one) and it was a Sunday (ends in Y)

I think you boys ought to make peace with this woman. Obviously the Y force is powerful in that one....

I believe that in actual fact the first reading he took in the 80k area was more than sufficient to arouse his interest....

The second reading was taken when I overtook him :sweatdrop which in hindsight (20/20 of course), was not one of the brightest things that I did today.

I did think that I should have been commended for taking the interest away from you and your 'ole girl' though Hooks!!!! ha ha ha

:pinch: .... he let us off with a warning !! :yeah: ... Bloody nice guy .... Eh Crissie ???

He was incredibly......... understanding (he is a biker too!!!) ....... and as I was being suitably chastised, I couldn't fail to miss the fact that his uniform fitted him very nicely........

Having said all that, I was actually a little unnerved by his 'pulling over' method. Admittedly I did give pause for some surprised thought when I looked under my arm to see a grille with pretty sparkly lights, and even more unnerved when those sparkly lights that were barely a foot away from my back wheel came ever closer.

As I collected my hitherto scattered thoughts and realised what was happening (well it was early and my synapses are not firing as readily as they used to!!!! :crybaby: ) I pulled into the side of the road on the gravel and he kinda nosed the front of his car in the region of my front wheel, and then once he saw I had turned the bike off, he spun the wheels of the car and drove directly in front of me....

With all that I kinda expected a really arrogant attitude (at the least!) - and was very pleasantly surprised... :gob: Restores the faith somewhat eh Hooks??

I just don't see the point of pushing myself to the limit (or more relevantly, over). There are way too many factors to consider in road riding, and you can NEVER guarantee that the road surface is clean. Hit a bad patch of gravel/sand around a corner at speed, and I don't care who you are, you're having tarmac relations! Up the takas, dry road and no traffic, I reckon I would only arrive 30 secs, a minute MAX after Deano, Hayden and the likes. Is it really worth it to risk life, and money to have bragging rites? Also, I just don't know if I could ever be that fast, and would hate to try in vain.

Don't get me wrong, I wish I could ride like the big boys :) And then I always remember, I've only been riding for 21 months...

He's "The man" when I'm not being "The man"

and you can NEVER guarantee that the road surface is clean. Hit a bad patch of gravel/sand around a corner at speed, and I don't care who you are, you're having tarmac relations! ...

That right?

Up the takas, dry road and no traffic, I reckon I would only arrive 30 secs, a minute MAX after Deano, Hayden and the likes.

That's what a little race track called Manfeild is for.

And Deano, Hayden and the likes are normally a full minute adrift anyway.

Is it really worth it to risk life, and money to have bragging rites? Also, I just don't know if I could ever be that fast, and would hate to try in vain.

Don't get me wrong, I wish I could ride like the big boys :) And then I always remember, I've only been riding for 21 months...

Yup. Because we all know the best braggers are the silent type.

And you're as big as anyone. People ride how they'll ride, power to 'em. The fact tht you're on two wheels means you're already doing more right than wrong.

It just sure is cool to see a scruffy as fuck CBR600F4 with an even scruffier rider, teaching it. :ride:

:calm: Have you got your knickers in a twist again? :) I didn't mean any sarcasm in any way, nor was I having a "go" at anyone, maybe I worded my post badly?

Who is the rider on the CBR600F4, and who is being taught? I don't always pay much attention to the specific bikes I ride with, but if you mean me, then hell yes I get taught, by just about everyone. My full licence is still green!

About the gravel/sand, I meant at speed, in a tight corner, with no warning. Am I wrong in thinking that this would mean a certain lowside? (and I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really asking!)

Stoney mate, you have never posted anything that would get my knickers in a twist, nor would I expect you to have a "go" at anyone.

I'm talking trash and I'm being a big head. No one's teaching anybody except their bikes.

Sorry for the confusion man, it wasn't meant to sound like I was taking you to task over it. (Although by re-reading I can see how it would've :o )

Whoops! Sorry.

Bloody typical that it happens when you're just cruising.

Seems strange, but it is amazing how often it happens... I was cruising when I came off too.
Bugger about the bin though Frosty, always something you can do without. Best focus on the positive bits, like the fact that you stopped ~100m up from where it might have all ended...

S/C I agree. I have nothing against the peeps that go fast, I dont want to and dont have the ability. W/T, I maybe the only one in the dark here, but what is your new bike (the weapon) ?

I am one broken arse mutha fucka this weekend, Si.

And I thought I'd be a gentleman and give someone else a shot at glory for once. I understand both Jimbo and Hayden were o form? Better mke hay while the sun shines boys, Cycosis is on the bike again in 3 days.

Now there's a challenge......

Don't I know it. I'll only try and stay with that mofo when it's time to get another new bike. Looks like I'll be back to blaming tyre pressures etc etc to explain my ginger efforts over the hill.

Please don't do it again Tony! There are a lot of places on that hill that are a great launch place into space! We don't want to have to fit you with a parachute!

lol - no not flooded. The fuel pump relay wasn't giving the fuel pump any juice as it was dry. Once Dave got the bike running it worked without any convincing. The fuel pump that is.

Just need battery and rear tyre, then off to the testing station for a new plate.

I never have a running bike when you;re down here, and I refuse to put myself in the line of personal in my face ridicule.
