Hmmm... hope my sister doesn't mind if I decide to restore it a little differently...

Nah, I think the first one might be an SS50 or similar. Honda Cub motor, running gear, the works, except backbone frame instead of `underbone'.

Note the watercooling in the first pic.

what you need to do is pick up the Cub you've just bought (that real tidy one went for $950 by the way) and buy a Dream 50R.

Its a replica of the CR110 and is utterly gorgeous. There was one sold on tardme even a couple of years ago.

mmmmmmmmmm dreamy.

Its no five cylinder 125, but still dead sexy.

mmmmm hmmmmmmmm

and HRC cred: thats cool that money CAN buy!

I love the Dream 50Rs; somebody here (Nudez?) informed me they made a road legal version too. But no HRC bits for it, hehe.

Dunno if you'd get that sort of horsepower and performance in under moped registration  Sister might find that 14,000rpm is a little bit brutal for getting to uni and back, but I'd love one for commuting :D

It's my firm belief that bikes are more fun the smaller they get.

Those 2 first ones are based on a C110, which is the 3 or 4 speed manual pushrod 50.
I had a 1962 C110 once, loved it to bits, great commuter machine.

I thought the first might've been an SS50 with the triple clamp/telescopic forks, but then again he might've retrofitted it. Picture caption suggested it was 50cc, but then again Honda made dozens of different variations on the theme. Another pic:

Second one is definitely a proper Cub -- check out the frame. Based on a CM91, which was the early 90cc Cub. Here's the rather interesting article: http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/classics/bike.asp?id=56

Perhaps we could go flat-track racing? This is a CL70.

I know, I'm getting quite interested now :D Would be a great class of bike to modify, make café racer/flat tracker/Japanese custom balloon tyre machine etc. out of, at least the 50cc ones. Seems to be very lax rules regarding moped class machines, look at all of those godawful mini choppers. Don't have a WoF inspector telling you the mirrors are too low (:eek5:!!!) or that the tank has to be standard etc.

Clearly the engines are begging for modification too! This pic is from http://www.elsberg-tuning.dk/the%20bikes.html#Classic%20racer , it's a supercharged CD50/Cub motor. He says the fun stuff happens between 8500rpm and 12,500rpm.

Or, sweet Jesus this looks impressive, an SS50 road racer:
