OK, Here we go (again).

My bike is for sale.

It is a beautiful bike in beautiful condition and it is for sale because I am unable to ride it at the moment due to an ongoing injury problem (from a bike accident).

I don't want to sell it, but equally I don't want it sitting in the garage taunting me either or when someone else could be enjoying it.

Yip.
You expect her to let random people ride her 30k bike?
A bike like this doesnt need a test ride. You either want it, or you dont.

You dont have to demo a bike to want one. But I wont argue.
Id buy one this second if I had the money. WITHOUT test riding one.

Anyone?

I may need to sell it now as my car burst into flames last week and is now written off completely :crybaby: I guess 'Her_B4' has just changed to 'Her_..'! !

I'm so not going to 'go there' in regards to the insurance company and what they euphemistically call 'service'. :spanking::Pokey:

Anyway - bike still for sale :baby:

Can we have some action pics please? :msn-wink:

The bike or the car??

If its the car you are referring to - I don't have any.

The story goes like this - the car needed a warrant so took it into the mechanics. As I went to pick it up he was on his way out in it having tuned the primary turbo (overboosting problem), but stopped and offered to check it out the following week when I was to take it back and get the cam belt done.

I suggested that he check it out while he was in it, and I would go and pay and wait the 5 minutes it would take for him to check that he had the settings correct.:niceone:

Sooooo - he didn't come back. The workshop foreman came out to tell me that the car had caught fire and the firemen had arrived and were in the process of putting it out.

I stood there like a spare prick at a wedding wondering what the hell I was supposed to be doing next!!!:stupid:

They towed it (what was left of it) back to the mechanics and before the insurance company took it I bowled out to remove any personal belongings that were not burnt or sodden....

WHAT a mess. Thank goodness the mechanic wasn't hurt :msn-wink: and that I wasn't driving! My reactions are definitely not as good as they used to be these days:oi-grr:

Wow! You sure have had a rough time of late. What with buying a 30k bike that you cant ride due to injury, then not being able to sell it, now your car catches fire.
Is the car insured?
Hope you luck improves real soon.
All the best with the sale.

I kinda wish you did too!! :scooter::clap: he he he - and thanks :sunny:

Yes well - I thought so, but apparently the insurance company and I do not see eye to eye over 'replacement cost' despite me providing evidence of similar current car sales. They even had a 'pre fire' assessment done on it to judge the condition and said that it was 'fair'. Anyone who knows me knows that my vehicles are well looked after and that I tend to be a bit obsessive compulsive so I was pretty stunned to here that!! :gob:

To say that I am fairly irate about it all is a bit of an understatement. I have been insured with this company for over 30 years for all houses, contents and vehicles (but not the bikes!) and I guess I am a bit 'old school' and still expecting to receive things like 'value for money', repect as a client and that good ole 'service' factor.

Clearly in this case - there was absolutely no point at all in paying such a high premium for so long over so little return at the end.

since you need a vehicle asap, are you interested in a straight swap for my van? its a 1991 ford spectron, 286000 ks, has been stripped out to carry bikes to the track, comes with assorted motorcycle stickers.

no, the rust holds it together just fine, the stickers add horsepower, the power commader sticker must of added at least 10 just on its own.

p.s. its got electric windows if that helps sharpen the deal?

You ARE kidding right? If you don't have the money then why would you be interested in a bike like mine ($ wise) unless...

you were a tyre kicker (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1606626&postcount=3) and getting your jollies at other peoples expense?

If it were your pristine bike would you want this (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1606852&postcount=28) to happen??

And to answer your question - for this particular bike, on this particular occaision - YES.

FWIW - and as alluded to in a previous thread, I never test rode it either and in the wee rides where I have managed to get out on it - I have not been disappointed :scooter::wari::love:

If one was able to test ride the bike first, one would know if one's previous injuries were going to cause pain whilst riding said bike, perhaps resulting in not purchasing said bike and not having to sell an expensive bike without allowing test rides.

FWIW not everyone thrashes a bike they are interested in buying. I have recently test ridden a number of bikes and never felt the need to "thrash" them or try and get top speed out of them. I found the BMW FX800 to be a great bike without having to redline it let alone break any speed limits. Sure, there are tyre-kickers out there but they're pretty easy to spot.

And...I bought my bike without test riding it. First ride on it was from Auckland to Rotorua at night in the pissing rain. :msn-wink:

huh?? gollllly, no need to snipe mate. :girlfight: I (and my Doctors) had expected that it would heal within 6 months or so... and it is healing - just veery slowly (the accident was over a year ago).

I am more than happy to agree that I made a mistake in buying it on the assumption that I would be on it pretty quickly - the opportunity arose, I had the money and I took it. But that is my personal issue - not KB's (or yours for that matter?) surely?

Don't see any need for you to repeat the thrust of your snipes on previous threads re: this? Each to their own - live and let live and all that.

Fairy 'nuff - so why are you posting in MY thread in 'On-line Trading' about selling MY bike if you have no intention of spending $30 without test riding, when I have made it perfectly clear that will be NO test rides? 'Biker Ravings' or some other thread may be more appropriate for airing your feelings on this matter?

Cheers Scuze,

I didn't ask for a test ride when I bought it either - and despite the naysayers negativity in this thread (and others), the new buyer deposited the full purchase price in my bank account without even seeing the bike let alone taking it for a test ride.

Mixed feelings is an understatement :(

It obviously was not meant to be and the good news is that it will not be taunting me in the mornings any more

Further good news is that I can now buy a new bike with a more relaxed leg position (Harley?) :2thumbsup:dodge::lol: and get the hell back out on the road.

The bad news is that today I just found out the seat height of the new Ducati streetfighter. Regretfully, it is out of my reach physically. At 840mm it is 20mm higher than the 1098 which had to be drastically lowered and new boots made to touch the ground. That extra 20mm has totally killed that idea - BUGGA :argh:

Yeah pretty disappointing. My bike boots are borderline 'overkill' now - but that extra height is going to knock a few people out. Each model seems to be getting higher (since the 748?) it appears?!

and yes - thanks  I guess everything has a buyer, you just need to wait for them.
