View Full Version : Bikers bring motorway to standstill in fuel protest
Hundreds of bikers brought the M60 and M62 motorways to a standstill as they held a protest against the soaring cost of fuel.
Some 500 bikers staged a “go-slow” demonstration, riding slowly in formation. Their actions were cheered on by car drivers, many of whom applauded in support as they sat in the major tailbacks. One organiser said onlookers were getting out of their cars to wave and take pictures. “They’ve embraced this traffic jam today, that’s what we wanted,” he said.
Michael Clearly, 56, a Salford garage owner, said: “I think it’s brilliant. It’s a pity they’re not blocking off Downing Street and London too.”
A national fuel protest is planned for June 22 when vehicles of all kinds will take to roads across the country for a “peaceful driving protest” organised via the social networking website Facebook.

Huh.
They've repeatedly shown they don't give a crap about what we think.
Yes, they'll make the right noises as we get closer to election time, but in general they're just a bunch of self-serving twunts who think they get into parliament because they deserve it, and forget that they are civil servants representing actual people.
But yeah, we should do the same - just because it would be kewl.
And a waste of petroleum distillates.

Ah, yeah, but see thats Oop Narf, in the land of northernpeeps.
Londoners wouldn't prolly do that, they're becoming too beaten down by trying to live within the system of suppression that exists in the metropolis. Every time I've suggested complaining about stuff (especially amongst my courier mates, who seem to complain more than the average biker) ... people just go 'Naaaa, you'll not get anywhere, and chances are if you look even slightly militant, you'll end up get arrested, let alone have cctv cameras directed at your flat, your bike, your place of work, and then questioned by MI5 about the sort of company you keep, so no point mate.' and returned to their PS3's for a dose of their own reality.
I went to a biker protest about 7 years ago in London, probably about 400 people turned up ... everybody rode around Trafalgar Square for a couple of hours irritating the traffic and stopping to let tourists take pix, then some munters from MAG got up on a soapbox, so everybody stopped riding and had a cup of coffee, then everybody clapped the speeches, rode round the square a few more times just for the devilment of continuing to disrupt traffic ... and went away again.
Nothing much happened.

:Playnice: What I would like to know is how can they put the price up by 6 cents two or three times then at a later stage drop it by 2 cents and say its it fair?????
And at the end the look the other way when they make huge profit and nothing gets said:mad:

How can the price of fuel in the storage tanks go up immediately when the international price changes? Strange how it can go up sooo quick but when the price drops it takes a long long time to go down.

Im surprised that its the bikers doing the complaining when they have possibly the cheapest form of transport bar cycling. You would think the cagers would have been the first to be up in arms... or are bikers over there a solid group who stick together and speak as one for the majority?
