Hello!

since 2 weeks I'm here in NZ, visiting from germany.

Currently I am in New Plymouthand I'd like to get in contact with other motorcyclists, though I haven't got my bike with me...

Actually, the pupose of my trip is to find a job, because we -my husband and I- thinking about moving to NZ.

Are there people in the area who'd like to meet for a chat or an event or help/information?

As I don't know a lot of people here, it would be great to hear from you!!

Welcome to the forum, Baffy.

Which parts of the country are you looking for work in, and what sort of job are we talking about?

Will you be in New Plymouth for the remainder of your stay in NZ, or will you travel around before you leave?

Welcome Heike!

My youngest daughter's husband came out from Germany and has many German contacts here. He is currently assisting his brother to immigrate and has helped another mate from Germany as well. He loves bikes but isn't a biker, never had the opportunity overseas, but since getting together with my daughter and therefore with me, he's been introduced to biking!

We're a bit far away from NP, but if you'd like to get in touch with him, just PM me.

Hello Heike,

Tell us what work you would like, or what qualifications and skills you have ? Someone might offer you something right here on KB.

Or else there is plenty of fruit picking ;)

Hi Baffy and welcome.

If you say what kind of work you and your husband are looking for I am sure there will be members on this forum able to provide guidance.

May I suggest that you do establish contacts with others whom have migrated from Germany, as you will be able to understand issues from people with a similar experience and perspective to your own. Another avenue to explore is http://www.move2nz.com where you will be able to get a lot of practical help and advice.

Good luck.

Guten Morgen Heike,

My partner is from Berlin and moved here 5 years ago - she's adapted to life here pretty well but would always appreciate contact with people from Der Vaterland!
Welcome to the site, where will you settle in NZ?

Hi Heike.
Welcome to the site/ New Zealand/ New Plymouth.

I can point you in the direction of short term work in Horticulture here in NP if your interested.
Our Nursery has other Germans working there which may help with your settling in to the New Zealand lifestyle.

@ JRandom: Yes, I'm about to stay in the New Plymouth area as well I do look for a job in the Taranaki district. Thought I'm mobil and can get around if I'd like to. My profession is an educator. I worked in this field for many years in Germany. Now I'm figuring out what suits me best in NZ.

@Edbear: Yes, quit a distance away. And, right too. It is tricky to find my way through law and rules. So, do I get you right when I understand that your relatives went through this (or at least simular) before?
I'll cant PM you, cause my account won't let me. But I can drop you a e-mail.
Check your post.
