So how can you do a roadside repair on a flat tyre?

Two options.

Tyre repair kit for plugging the hole.

Tyre pando = sealant in a can.

The plug is preferable.

The sealant in a can can screw your wheel balance and the mess it makes inside the tyre and all over the wheel rim is unreal.

Yup, tyre repair kit. They come withtool, plug, and CO2 cannisters to re-inflate. They'll repair anything short of a cut or tear int he tyre. I never leave home without it - just lives under the seat.

p.s. My back tyre is 180/55/Zr17 so for those fatties they recommend you buy a couple of extra CO2 cannisters

I have a feeling that the former only has 2x canisters which may not be enough (happy to be corrected, i have the latter...) Plus the more expensive one has a canister gun, because those canisters get mighty cold when discharged quickly....:cold:

Yeah I gave google a go but the repair kits look like those of a bicicle one, and with bicycle ones you've got to take off the tyre and stuff... Which is why I noobly asked here ;)

If you haven't got a bike yet I would suggest that you get one with tubeless tyres or the "bicycle" repair kit will be the one you'll need.

You ride quickly to the next area of civilisation (which was approx 60k away for me) so that you don't have to waste your gas canisters.

You find the going real slow as the bike slews from side to side... you look at your speed, and you're doing the speed limit, corners and all :blink: :whistle:

The other term you can search for is dog turd... effectively a plug. You ream the hole a bit, to make it a bit bigger (so the plug will fit) and punch the plug into the tyre. Hopefully it holds. I found for the first few days it leaked a bit, then settled down. (You're meant to get it properly fixed pronto).

Best you watch some poor bastard for the first time (or the bike shop) as its then alarmingly simple.

Genuine Innovations do a range of repair kits for bikes . You need the 32g C.O. 2 cannisters for big tyres or go and buy a liittle 12v compressor that will fit under your seat . I got one from Supercheap Auto for $8.99 and its still going , will even bead out a tyre if you leave it for long enough .

The mousses are a airless rybber tube replacement for enduro bikes wich emulate 12-14 psi and are not easy to fit . If you have an 18" or 21" tyre and don't mind riding on near flat tyres it would be okay as long as you don,t go to fast i.e. 100kph
