What are some of the strange things you've found on the web?

Take for example this page (http://nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/resources/glossary/mi-e/w.html). If you ever need to write about a binocular Microscope in Maori
1) You can thank the nice people from the NZQA
2) I'd be bloody amased!

Of course the other strange (and possibly the funniest thing I've found) was searching for images related to "Carver". Sadly my work safe filtering was turned off and my signature tells the rest of the story (very NWS... disturbing, and funny as hell).

It also gives me the inalienable right to say Carver's a bum bandit. Off for a Mormon but hey - each to their own I guess.

I like to click the "random article" link on Wikipedia.

It satisfies my urge for learning even MORE useless information than I already know :laugh:

Interestingly (to me, at least) ... the first click I have done today results in THIS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petgirl). (may be slightly NWS)

But followed (several boring entries later) by a nice polite zoological (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_Forktail) distraction of a different type.

The real concern here is that some (or probably a whole flock of) civil servants is being paid using our taxes to invent this rubbish.

Incidentally I saw the results of a similar exercise in Malaysia back in the early '80s.

Bus = bas
Telephone = telepon
School = sekolah

At least a little more imagination in the Maori version it would seem.
