Highly questionable legality.
Still, the site is hosted in the USA, so maybe it's legal.

just as legal as stealing them it been 6 months since they took mine cops have done nothing and by the sounds of it this guy is still out there stealing bikes. What are we ment to do sit back and say sure here you go just keep taking them fuck that if people know who they are there is less chance there bike will disapear. If you noticed some one you knew was a bike theif you would do something about it wouldnt you ???

Of course, of course, but the KB site mods have an obligation to uphold NZ laws regarding legal stuff like this.
If police aren't even allowed to alert neighbours to paedophiles living next door, I doubt you are allowed to post details of bike thieves.

Ok, don't post pictures of "bike thieves". Post pictures and names of people who appear to have "taken an unusual amount of interest in your motorcycle".

You're not going to catch bike thieves, you're just going to get an increasing number and severity of convictions for breaking privacy laws. You might think the laws are bogus and the Police's inability to retrieve your property (actually, lets face it - it's in bits and some of those bits are probably on bikes belonging to KBers, unknowingly of course) is just as bogus.
The only thing you are going to achieve with threads like this is KB being shut down and you ending up poorer and possibly in jail.
The Police have discretion over whether or not to charge people, and under which law, but once you end up in court and are plainly guilty (as in this case) the Judge HAS to apply a penalty.

What a load of crap! He has shown a picture of a bike thief! He sure is not returning it!:oi-grr:
Many service stations and department stores show pictures of thieves that have visited their premises for all to see. I can't see where any crime has been committed by anyone by showing a picture of these scum in action. What a fucked up place NZ is becoming with ideas like this.

Bike thiefs shit me, especially the ones that are part of a network, they deserve everything they get, whether it by the police or by up-standing citizens like KBer's and this thread.
Also hate people that sell bikes that are crap like this one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Quads-ATVs/auction-158369907.htm
Have heard from a mate that this bike was bought just after it was rebored and engine rebuilt. The guy who has it now has done some serious engine damage and had to have it rebuilt a couple of times. Seems the problems are from the original owner and the reboring. After the last rebuild the engine still has a slight knock and has never been run in properly let alone ridden for 5 hours. Last time the guy only got 3 hours out of the engine before it needed a rebuild that is why it is being sold, but he will not tell you that. And they complained about how the last owner must have known that the engine was crap, they are doing the same thing.

8th June 2008, 19:56
THey not slackers - theyre too fkn busy shafting motorists!
Nailing bike thieves does NOT get them revenue. Fining innocent people for rushing around trying to make ends meet (because their administration is shafting people as well)seems to be their perversion. Its hard to keep your eyes on the road these days - too busy looking out for pigs hiding everywhere!

On the news the top story was about some poor dude in Manurewa getting shot in the chest in a liquor store robbery and it took the cops 25mins to arrive WTF?
And it took the ambulance 45mins! Poor guy is not expected to live.

it's a shame that photo isn't exactly clear enough to 100% recognise someone

yeah, that's why i never buy a "worked" bike. stock standard means no surprises - and if it doesn't start within a reasonable number of kicks don't buy it!

i heard they shot him while he was handing over some money too - fucken disgusting
also, had a mate with serious heart issues wait almost 15 minutes for an ambo at albert park; would've been quicker to walk to the hospital from there!
then there was the SMC club member who crashed a scooter on K rd at the top of queen st; waited even longer with what could've been a broken leg (luckily a 150cc scooter landing on her leg wasn't quite enough to break it)

I've often sat in a complete log jam on the Auck motorway or in the suburbs and wondered when people where going to start dying because the emergency services are stuck as well. So maybe the people that need blaming, are the bureaucratic bungling twats that created the mess we have in Auckland, over the last 40 years!!! Oh no! wait lets have another million dollar review first aye!!
