Yeah, snow.
Great.
:oi-grr:
Although to be fair, prolly it looks cooler in Greta than it does in Timaru.
It better stop before I have to fly out of Chch tomorrow morning.
Can't wait to be back to the relatively tropical Auckland.

With any luck it will snow more overnight; it's great waking up to a still silent blanket of white. Makes me miss the Southern Alps. Snow in Chch is beautiful for about an hour early morning, until it gets covered in footprints and dirty from cars.

My mother in law rang just a couple of hours ago to say they had snow falling thick and fast in Rangiora. Their young dog was quite bemused by all this stuff falling from the sky apparently.
Snow is great until your clothes get wet from it. My doc martens got absolutely soaked through while trudging through heavy snow in Northern Japan the Christmas before last. Was soooooo pretty, but my feet were frozen and my socks sopping by the time I got back to where we were staying.
I want Mark to make snow angels too! Then photograph them and post them here for us.

Well, Subike just got home with a snow covered ute a cheeky grin on his face laughing his arse off qabout passing all the 4wd's stuck in the snow in his RWD ute.
they all got stuck, a big rig in his lane stuck infront...10 big rigs went the other way clearing a path, so he went back and forth gradually creating a track to go up the path made by the big rigs going the other way....backed up and went for it and passed all the stranded.
Hes gloating like you wouldn't believe! LOL

I don't know how you're riding - but I've found that if I'm going sideways towards something on my motorbike I'm doing something wrong...
Problem with walking in snowboard boots is that you have to use one hand to hold your pants up at all times.

Panic - I beg to differ. I wouldn't have the first clue which way I was going if I was panicking!
And you must have mis-read my post. I clearly stated that snowboarders were lacking in motorskills - not skiers. Keep up mate! Although that would require that you pull up your pants, put down the joint, get a pair of skis and grow some motorskills... ;)

Heheh!
I know what you mean.
The first time I went to Mrka, it was the one week that it snowed in Idaho. The guy who was our host took us for a ride at night in his pickup truck, and switched on his 'brights' as we went down a street in the opposite direction the snow was falling. It was great!
Then we went to some really flash suburb, and he did donuts at the end of the culdesac.
Riding in snow's all right when it's fresh and hasn't melted and refrozen, and it's not much different to riding in the wet. The tricky bit is when it sticks to your visor, so you open it, then it fills up.
My funniest memory of driving in the snow was a few years ago when we were driving at night. A b0iRacr mobile coming the other way had a huge airdam on the front. He slipped a bit, got out of the clearish bit on the road, and the corner of the airdam went into the drift at the edge. Instant snowplough! And he came to a very quick stop.

got a pic of the snowman yet, mark?
gotta love snow. spent half a winter canada a few years back. amazing! only thing is when the council clears the roads, they are icy instead. id rather have plain old snow than ice, lol.
best way to warm up as well, sweeping the driveway. used to take me something like 2-3 hours of shovelling snow just so we could go and get groceries.
the longest bit was breaking through the piles that the snow plow leaves. cos the roads get done twice daily [or more] the snow just refreezes till its hard as the hobs of hell. takes ages to break through that. but on the upside, you go out blue and come in red!

Stop off in Methven either on the way down or back up for a bit of a blast at Mt Hutt...look out!
Gggnnnn...*goes green with envy*
My new gear is from Torpedo7, a NZ online store. Google them if you'd like. The gear and service have proven to be primo so far for me.

I'm all good for gear. Got hold of an Inca 163 freeride board and drake ltd bindings a couple of years ago, but have barely used them due to my biff at Wangas. This'll be the first year my ankle will be up for some snow action!

And my face.
You wish...although I'd like to kindly volunteer the info that frankly, it's hardly anything to get all wishful about.

Nothing a few painkillers mixed with red wine won't fix.

Drunken, drugged up snowboards with disabilities - they are a menace on our slopes I tell ya <_<
Gotta love the Jaeger Tea they sell in Austria. Tea and 80% Stroh Rum half'n'half.

Look who's talking...I bet you you'd be one of the worst, given half a chance.

Actually, the lack of on-slope resorts here in NZ has kinda put an end to proper afterskis since I moved here. :weep:
And no, I wouldn't get wasted and get on my skis - I respect my joints (the biomechanical ones - duh, bloody boardies ) a bit too much for that.

Let's be straight once and for all ok...skis are brilliant in their environment (for those who like them, and yes, I have tried them btw), but you cannot beat the beauty and smoothness of a ride on a snowboard. It is like poetry in motion and a glide away from the purest of exiliration.
You haven't lived until you've mastered the mighty board.

Were you naked? You were eh?!
Naked....
Well apart from my wooly kilt of course. As a really really wee boy they'd make us wear them wooly pants under our kilts as being kiddies we didnie really have the knack of not showing off our wee boabies. Of course, the wooly pants itched like motherfuckers so we'd spend the whole time scratching oor bawsacks. :gob: As a bigger boy ah didnae wear the wooly pants but to stoap ma boaby getting frostbite I'd have to put the fish and chips on a strategic location on the way back to Glebe Street and Ma and Pa Broon.
