"Repaint of all Fairings done in matt black with matt clear."

My first Ducati is going to have to be a red one. Would have to see your bike in the flesh to decide if I would be happy enough with the paint job.

For resale value, you can't beat having the original paint.

Nothing wrong with your bike. $17,000 is a lot of money so the number of buyers is smaller. Its winter time, bike sales are slow. Personally I'd prefer it is red too but that shouldn't be a problem.

I reckon the repaint would put any potential buyer off...when you are paying 17k
ya want the original paint, it just leaves too many ???marks in your mind.:bye:

I think your potenial buiers are all confused as to why there is a Ducati thats not red.

Screw red. Black is the new black that looks awesome.

^ Maybe so, but usually in my experience, repaint = crashed.

winter... economy... a lot of bikes are seen more as toys, ie, your ducati, my zx10. They aren't commute bikes. When people tighten their belt (as they are doing) they drop toys first.

I can't ride my zx10 from license loss, and I don't want it, as I REALLY don't want to lose my license again (the zx10 makes it a bit too easy)... so looking at it is like looking at some really cute piece of ass (hi hitcher :wavey:), you want her, she wants you, she's legal... and you still can't have her...

Am I frustrated? Hell yes :whocares:

so many things I could say..........

Nah I'll leave it - its too easy (so to speak).

It's Winter.
They're not as pretty as the the earlier ones or the new ones.
There are $hitloads of 749 & 999's at dealers at the moment for around 15 grand.
17 grand is new bike money so a lot less buyers.
848 is 26K. You're in that $hitty price zone where peeps will take out a slightly higher loan to get the newness and 2 year warranty.
Economy farked, gogo juice expensive...anybody running a business at the moment will tell ya that nobody is buying ATM.

Keep her if ye can but otherwise you're gonna take a hit on her. Oh, and I'd sell all the carbon and other goodies separately.

Dunno Matt, Its a gorgeous bike. I would think its just a sign of the times at the moment too. People seem to have to really watch their coin at the mo.

As for the paint job ? I think its a real head turner. Black is definately the new Red! My 749 is similar only it's gloss black with gold trim, I could have sold it a few times over now, but she aint for sale. Ive mentioned yours to people, but until they see it in the flesh its not that apparent how stunning she looks.

BRING HER OUT ON SOME RIDES WITH US SO SHE CAN BE SEEN!!!:2thumbsup

Beautiful bike. Value is only what someone will pay for it, besides all the reasons mentioned above...

It's a dilemma, I think the 999 is actually a neat bike. It's one of the few Italian bikes I'd own. In this market though... What about part trades?

ok, heres why is was done black.
Cause every bike shop has a red one and they are dull!

There isnt another 999 in NZ thats looks as good as this with all the extras on it.
black is the new red, duc's in yellow just dont cut it.

absolutely NO damage, i have b4 and after pics.
and I can offer finance...
will that help shift it?

cheers all. and Flame, I would bring it out on some rides, but it isnt rego'd...
only gonna get it done for the first buyer.

It's overpriced... it's for sale for the same amount as one could get a factory one for, a factory one that is always going to be worth more money.

the sky magnet thing would put me off, and the servicing costs, a couple more grand u could get a brand new jap bike. as well as other things mentioned, ull have to drop the price,

Don't think this thread is doing you any good trying to sell your bike....

But here's my 10 cents :

Its highly unusal to repaint a Ducati - the widest appeal will be for a red one therefore you will devalue your bike
Why call it a 999R when it isn't - Any "Educated" person will know its not an R (by looking at the suspension for a start)
I love matt black on bikes but this one doesn't suit it (Just my opinion) - I'd need to see it in the flesh - and perhaps you could do some better pics.
I think the Carbon bits and crash bungs look awful - take em off and thow em in as part of the deal or sell em.
On the whole I think its a bit over priced and a bit close to a new Jap bike. (Think about it !!)

Apart from that I think its a nice bike... good luck
