gn250 failed warrant of fitness

I have 2006 Suzuki GN250 and it just failed warrant of fitnes because headlight is dipping wrong way. This was second time when it failed this same reason. Last time I got WOF when I showed recipe how "headlight was checked and light bulb was adjusted". Now it failed again because of this same reason. Headlight is not broken, it is still exactly same condition what it was when bike was bran new. What can I do? How i can get new WOF?

Strange, speedo isnt in miles by any chance? its either badly adjusted or it does actually dip to the right (as you find on US/wherever else they drive on the right models)

Bike is New Zealand new, but I am second owner. It was about 500km on the clock when I bought it. I already sent email to Suzuki and asked what can we do. In my opinion they should fix it for free if it can not meet some New Zealand standards in this condition what it was when they sold it.

Speedo is in kilometers and bike is new zealand new. Headlight is dipping on the right and it maybe it is designed for right hand traffic.

You will probably find it easier to sort it yourself and buy the correct sealed beam for NZ from the agents. Easier in the long run

i had a 93 ZR 750 that was nz new and only about 2 years ago it was pinged on the light dipping on the wrong side its actually the flutes in the headlight glass.

I already contacted to this Suzuki dealer who first time sold it here in NZ and they immediately understood what is the problem (even english is not my first language) and how I have to change whole headlight. When I told that in my opinion they should fix it for free they started to blame how previous owner has changed this headlight and I have nothing evidence that headligt is still the same. I also contacted to first owner (I am second owner) and he confirmed that has the same headlight as when he brought it brand new. Now I am waiting spare parts to get it fixed.

Avoid the VTNZ/AA twats, go to a garage or bike shop. Generally they don't give a shit about such a ridiculous thing (even if it was dipping the wrong way), as it's hardly a matter of safety.

Exactly - it's called an asymmetric headlamp - it rises to the left. It's even shown in the VIRM. Are you sure they said it's dipping to the right? I guess it's possible the the lens (glass) is misaligned meaning it is rotated on the piss, but I doubt it - it'd be glued in as part of the headlamp.

Sort of right, but wrong. My GN also failed its first WOF due to incorrect alignment of the headlight. I got a screwdriver and loosened off the adjustment and simply turned the glass till it faced the right way for the tester, then did the screw up. What I discovered was the headlight lens was completely independant of any adjustment, it simply floated around under the chrome rim. I took mine off and stuck some blu tac in behind it and hey presto instant fix. Seriously these chinese GNs are such crap compared to the older ones.

sadly, suzuki are crap when it comes to customer service. i had an 06 ginny as well. it spent more time on the lift being fixed than it did being ridden. and every single thing that went wrong was considered a "consumable" and therefore not covered by warrenty. i honestly think that things like chains and headlights should last longer than 10,000k or less. good luck getting anything out of them.

I hope you check this thread again - sounds like you're being dicked around if the headlight is the same as 'mom' has stated. Simple disassembly and realignment of the glass would correct the issue.

The headlight innards consists of a lens and a reflector with a hole in it for the bulb. The lens is sealed to the reflector and the bulb has a nice rubber grommet affair to seal the unit at the back. The whole unit is held into the headlight surround by a couple of spring clips which you have to take off to access the bulb when it blows about 3 months after you have purchased your bike new :yes: These clips are simply useless really, hence the blu tac fix. It works well!

Now i have new headlight and I got warrant of fitness. Old headlight was made in China, this new is made in Japan and seems it is better quality, but VTNZ, them opinion it is not what it should be. First they wanted to fail it again, because those vertically flutes in the headlight lense doesnt go exactly vertically and them opinion i should try to rotate it a little bit.. It is not possible to rotate it. Headlight is sealed unit and it is not ment that I can pull it parts and rotate it and it is only one way how I can install headlight in to the chrome housing. It seems that it is designed to be just like this what it is.. Anyway finally I got warrant, "because it is not major problem". I dont understand..

Arrrrg i took my gn in for new tyres because gn tyres are absoulutely crap in the rain and ended up having to get a new chain because apparently mine was fucked and my bike is an 07 and had just hit the 8,000km mark..Speaking of which...do you fellow gn riders/ex gn riders (damn you:P) find that sometimes when ur riding ur bike will just stall for no reason?At first i thought it was me being a noob but a few times later i am definately not doing anything wrong. Do you think its something seious? Plz tell me its not...
