Gday,
got off the ol FZR the other week and noticed the carbs were leaking a healthy amount of fuel onto the engine. Not good.
Hauled em out and gave em a good clean. Doesn't appear to be anything blocking the jets or anything, removed a dump load of sediment from the two carbs nearest the fuel line. So, having cleaned and reassembled, I plugged it all in tonight and same old, Im going with new seals required, but if you have any other bright ideas they'd be most appreciated.
They're mikuni Carbs (4), fuel is leaking from the bottom of the float bowls (it looks like) so thats the plan thus far.
Does anyone know where to get more gaskets from? Yamaha shop can get em in for a reasonable price but would be interested in sussing a source.

Cheers

Is it coming out the overflow pipe or is it coming from somewhere else?

If it's coming out the overflow pipe (you have some tubing attached?) then that means the fuel level within the carb is too high. This could be the float height being wrong, due to the float tang being bent (would this happen on its own, though?), or if the float is leaking and filling up with fuel. High fuel level could also be caused by the float valve not sealing; if there was sediment in the carb, was there a bit of dirt holding the float valve open? Is the seat/valve scratched?

no not from the overflow pipe, from the join of the float bowl to the rest of the carb, hence the thinking its the seals...
cheers
