I am new to the forum but not new to riding.
Been riding for forty odd years but have had a long layoff until this year.
Why get back on a bike? Ostensibly because "the wagon uses too much fuel"....the real reason? I'm a hoon and always have been.......I always promised myself another bike before I was too old to ride - thought I better hurry up before I WAS too old.....
Started with a 1953 Ariel.....heavy as lead, grossly underpowered, no suspension, all iron but it ALWAYS went, even when half of it was falling to bits.....learnt how to fix most things on this bike. NOT to be dropped (needed a crane to pick it back up)
Most interesting bike ever? Benelli 250cc - early 70's vintage, derived from the track and a joy to ride. Most nimble bike I ever rode. Bought this one new.
Current bike? Suzuki SV650S, 2007 model, also bought new. Why this bike? Lots of positive reviews, affordable, last one in the shop (who were quitting Suzuki in favour of HD (!) so I got a very good price on it. Liked the V-twin engine, liked the colour, rides very nicely indeed, goes like hell but not too much for a returning rider. Will trade up to 1000 version soon!!!! (maybe....)
Love to ride - love the isolation, the flight of it, the whole deal.
Have done a bit of racing years ago - loved that too - mostly just zoom around the back highways these days and even RIDE IT TO WORK on occasion....
Enjoying the forum. Well done organisers.
