I am new to the forum but not new to riding.
Been riding for forty odd years but have had a long layoff until this year.
Why get back on a bike? Ostensibly because "the wagon uses too much fuel"....the real reason? I'm a hoon and always have been.......I always promised myself another bike before I was too old to ride - thought I better hurry up before I WAS too old.....
Started with a 1953 Ariel.....heavy as lead, grossly underpowered, no suspension, all iron but it ALWAYS went, even when half of it was falling to bits.....learnt how to fix most things on this bike. NOT to be dropped (needed a crane to pick it back up)
Most interesting bike ever? Benelli 250cc - early 70's vintage, derived from the track and a joy to ride. Most nimble bike I ever rode. Bought this one new.
Current bike? Suzuki SV650S, 2007 model, also bought new. Why this bike? Lots of positive reviews, affordable, last one in the shop (who were quitting Suzuki in favour of HD (!) so I got a very good price on it. Liked the V-twin engine, liked the colour, rides very nicely indeed, goes like hell but not too much for a returning rider. Will trade up to 1000 version soon!!!! (maybe....)
Love to ride - love the isolation, the flight of it, the whole deal.
Have done a bit of racing years ago - loved that too - mostly just zoom around the back highways these days and even RIDE IT TO WORK on occasion....
Enjoying the forum. Well done organisers.

Wonderful stuff, slofox, great to have you on board.

Make sure you catch up for a few real-life KB rides in due course too. Always good to have someone with a bit of experience around to give the young 'uns a learn or two out on the road.

Welcome slofox. There are a lot of returnees on here and I'd say just about all for the reasons you have mentioned.

Enjoy and ride safe

Welcome Slofox!
A great choice of bike. A decent amount of power (at a cheap price too!) compared to the earlier stuff.

Welcome welcome

KB can be a place of shit-talking, piss-taking, exaggerating bollocks (predominantly in the sidecar threads - go figure) but occasionally something incredibly worthwhile comes out of it all!

Hey Slofox, I have been trying to figure out exactly what age is TOO OLD to ride. I have not come up with an answer yet but am thinking you have a way to go yet. Ride on.

Too old to ride is when I can't "get my leg over" anymore.....(the Bike I mean the BIKE!!!!) :Oi:
In my case it will actually be when I am either no longer mobile or dead......probably the latter.........:devil2:

Nice to see another "experienced " (hehe) rider on board. Call in for a good coffee if you're in the Coro area - it's good for Altzheimers accorting to TV news this week:innocent: I need every advantage I can get.

Your nickname doesn't seem to match background. I am betting you are still fast. I have a few months of age on you but quieter early days of riding - still a few scars though. The SV650 is a good value bike and goes well - enjoy and then move to a trumpet.

Well here's how it goes: Slofox is derived from Slow Foxtrot aka English Foxtrot. This is a ballroom dance - just happens to be the one I like best - smooth and laid back, very lyrical. My cage personal plate is slofox - I wanted to get QKSTP for the bike but the cost was a little too high for my taste.....greedy sods at PP put me off.......oh, just in case you didn't realise it, I also do the ballroom stuff when I am not on the bike......
