Want to ride in Canada? Don’t wear flip-flops!

When Michael Bailey went for a ride on his V-Rod in Winnipeg, little did he realise he was about to be pulled over… because he was wearing the wrong kind of flip-flop!

Bailey was given a warning by police, for wearing flip-flops without rear straps to hold them on. Bailey said "This is the law, but I certainly hadn't heard of it." Fortunately for Bailey, a local bar was able to give him some string to fasten the flip-flops in such a way that the arresting officer would allow him to ride his bike.

Manitoba Public Insurance spokesman Brian Smiley added footwear has no role in how a payout is decided in the event of a claim; "It has no consequence in terms of an accident. If they're injured, we're going to look after their bodily injury. It would have no bearing on the insurance coverage - as long as they have a valid licence."

Winnipeg police declined to comment.

That's what I can't understand. If you tow a trailer around and <b>you choose not to</b> put on the extra <acronym title="Or whatever the fuck they're called, I'm no trailer expert">chain hitch</acronym> on and the thing comes flying off and gets mangled, your insurance company will tell you to fuck off. But if you bin your bike and seriously fuck yourself up <b>because you chose not to wear gear</b>, acc will leap to your rescue at our expense.

Sure, you can wear what you want on a bike, but don't expect ME to pay for your skin grafts.
