hi all.
i just picked up a 86 gsxr400 that hasnt been running for a while.
well i hooked a battery up with jumpers to see whot would happen and after a bit of winding it started but it didnt seem to be firing on the middle 2 cilinders [could touch the headers on 2 and 3 and wernt as hot as 1 and 4.
i looked at the coils and whot i noticed is the have a + and - sign on them.
now there is a orange/white wire goes to each coil but said wire goes onto the - on one coil and the + on the other. is this right or should the wires go to the same on each coil?.
also when its running and i disconect the jump battery it cuts out strait away.
any ideas on that? cheers

Coils probably crook. They are notoriously weak on these. Get a replacement from a wrecker with equal resistance. I think my Impulse has a GSX1100 coil and some Honda coil.

If your coils are fine (replace them first), check your trigger coils, or pick up coils in the engine. Had one randomly die on my Impluse when I had it, caused no power to get to one coil = no spark for 2 cylinders.
