Evil knievel never was my hero, and if he was after that he sure as hell wouldn't be. Nuff said, there are real hero's in todays world.

As the saying goes, "never meet your heroes".
Sad.

Todays world?
Evels world was the seventies, How old were you when he was in his prime?

Meh I always just saw him as someone who was stupid enough to jump a bike and HOPE he landed it. Sure he could wheelie, but my heros are ones with skill

I don't have any hero's.....
As for Evel, I have only ever heard him talked about as a moron, even back in the seventies, Granted I was born only a few years before his fall from grace but he was still a celebrity of sorts.....Even if just for not landing jumps, being a bastard, and attacking people with bats.....

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed in that too...he seemed to be just another bitter old man!...I was too young to really remember his exploits, and all my heroes seemed to be Cowboys

In those days we thought a little different. if it looked as though it might work, then nothing was a problem. some of us got to live through that, unfortunatly a few did'nt. old Evil just happened to trip over a way to make a dollar, but like what a lot have found, the weight of money can also bring you to your knees...

I was born a few years after his status decline, but he wasn't that admired in england, well not from where I came from anywhere.

Evel Kneival...the hype was bigger than the man, but the man believed his own hype. And couldn't deliver. Pathetic.
(then again, you won't find too many people trying to jump over X buses, will ya?)

I wanted to like the guy, I mean the guy was literally a legend and known all around the world. But he was an asshole. I noticed especially the way that he was treating Hammond (who is more famous that he'll ever be), it was offhanded, just like a servant or something.
There's some sort of Aessops Fable aspect to his story - he lived like an ass, and he died in pain without any honor.

You're contradicting yourself a bit there aren't you? "Literally a legend" but Hammond is more famous that he'll ever be? Which is it? :dodge:
But yeah, I thought he actually deserved Louis Theroux rather than Hamster...

I enjoyed it as it showed me the man behind the legend.Yep he's an arsehole.
Probably made the Hamster question what he does to his own family at times.

It was sad, awful, disappointing, and infuriating all in one - fabulous TV! I loved the bit where he wanted to show off his "Poodle" - some gratuitous shots of her arse while she swings a golf club etc - wow, he sure is the man .... wonder if they pump the viagra gas straight into the tubes up his nose ....:doctor:
