View Full Version : Toaster's "Project Evil" is underway
Toaster
16th June 2008, 12:57
Given that bmz and I have adopted the nicknmae "evil twins" we named the fix up/rebuild project as Project Evil.
It's brought to you by Toaster (CEO and billpayer), Bmz (Director mechanical) and Buelldene (Painter extraodinaire!)
I decided to use my misfortune and turn it into a fun event were I can make the bike more personal.
The work is as follows:
New slip-on straight through exhausts
By-pass the set-cam
New Engine Guards -nice and shiny!
New Indicator assembly and coloured indicator bulbs with clear/smoked covers
New necklace for headlight
New tyres - wider front Metz ME 880 "160" and wider rear Metz ME 880 "260" which will lower rear another inch.
JSD kit
Holley big air intakes
Kurakyn pegs
smooth shifter kit
Straighted and buffed rear brake peg
Buffed clutch and brake levers
Replaced mirros back to my standard set for better visibility
Black and grey "Toaster" plate to fit above licence plate
Painted black tank and debadged
Painted black headlight cover
Aibrush painted with ghost flames front wheel fender
Painted black front and back rims with original alloy grey left around edge
Painted black left side rear wheel hub
Airbrush painted ghost "sheep with red X" on front left radiator cover
Lettering on tyres painted white (I am importing 10 of these these pens if you wish to purchase)
New gear to be purchased but includes an Akuma "Stealth Helmet" already ordered. I'll order a voltage transformer to charge the LED's in the helmet.

wider rear Metz ME 880 "260"
Jesus Christ, dude.
Edit: This is all about being threatened by the rear tyre on Finn's Night Rod, isn't it? Sooner or later both of you are going to need some form of actual crane to get those bikes around corners.
black tank and debadged
I just did the same. It works really well visually.
Want to join me on a Saturday night mission sometime to find a custom Harley or Ducati in need of some leftover 'S' tank decals?
:D
Airbrush painted ghost "sheep with red X" on front left radiator cover
Who ya gonna call?

Hehe very good mate.... yeah with the flatter profile 260 it may even stand up on its own!
Yeah not sure about the LEDs either.... what I really needed was a weapon to take out any future attacks from our woolly friends.

The new helmet, indicator covers/bulbs and tyre marker shipments are on their way to me. The indicator assembly and headlight necklace are on their way to you bmz.... just the big order from DLP and new tyres are yet to start the journey.
The freight and credit card service charges are a rip though! I am waiting for customs to whack me with GST on three of the shipments just to really sting me.
Then its just panel, paint and fitting to go.

I've been lucky - never had to pay any GST. The last thing I bought was a shock - the freight on that was around $250 or summat, as they wouldn't send it using a cheaper courier. Fairy Nuff, I spoze. And they did mark the package as having a commercial value of $150 on the customs declaration (didn't ask, they just did it). Still, I saved heaps even with all the freight, exchange rate, conversion costs, etc. etc.

I couldn't recall if the GST was applied to the value of the goods only or if it included the shipping before they decided whether to screw us or not.

Guys, I don't care for any sexual bias tags you may wish to assign this rebuild/thread and I'd rather they stayed out of this.
Honestly, i don't know Toaster or Bumz from adam, but i am aware that Toaster took a lot of pride in his bike and he did have a great looking bike. He had an off and both he and the bike were damaged. I'm sympathetic towards that as I am to any biker who has an off. I enjoy watching bike 'do up' threads and see it as a sign of Toaster's recovery and desire to move on. Because of that i am supportive of what he is doing, encouraged by his excitement, and hope he recovers well and that in starting this project he keeps us informed. Lets not rain on his recovery.

New helmet has arrived..... looks cool although USA dark visors are not dark at all.
My two new M109R shirts arrived.
Insurance money for gear comes in this week, so its shopping time.
The major parts order from DLP and new tyres from Cruiser Customizing are taking forever to come from the US.
Body is healing well. Back to work next Monday.

Heard this morning that the major parts shipments will leave the US this week. Just have to wait on the new tyres on order.
Pic of helmet attached..... not everyone's cup of tea but I liked the idea of something a bit different for my fourth helmet... all the others were black.
Yep, body coming right. Will try to drive tomorrow for medical appointments Thurs and Fri. Hope to go buy my riding gear in town on Thurs.

I have imported a box full of the oil based white pens. Haven't decided what price to sell them at yet though ;)
The lettering I had done on the existing tyres lasted a day of rain and road muck and the crash and are apparently still very clear so good to see its durable.

Thanks mate, I appreciate the support.
Recovery is going okay although had a major setback with a laceration to my liver causing real concern as they are worried my liver will bleed given I am on anticoagulants to prevent another blood clot like that which hit my lung while in hospital.
I am lucky to still be here after that crash as I waited an hour for an ambulance while my liver bled. My wife and baby needing me to stick around a while longer yet!
The bike rebuild project is going well. bmz2 has done a great job of doing so much of the work for me - time which he has little of to spare also having a busy job and family life too. This guy deserves praise for the way he helps out other bikers.
In contrast, it's a shame some of the pathetic immature idiots on this website seem to revel in flinging insults at people. I just ignore their rubbish - because that is all it is - worthless rubbish from those that lack maturity anbd seem intent on trying to intimidate or bully others. They'll get what's coming to them.
I am just trying to get well again and get back where I belong - on my bike!

Sorry to hear that your liver is playing up but that just reinforces what a hell of a knock you have taken. You still have time to chill and that'll be good time to mend. Remember that Liver has to be given all the chances to recover because i expect it will have a job to do once the bike is finished.

Is it me or did we loose a page on this thread?
when i get around to starting it:rolleyes:, toaster has parts on the way , now he has more bling to add on .
I'll have to make a list where to start. give me 3 weeks it should be on the road. OR ON TRADE ME :buggerd:Two bikes to build at once, fell like i,m OCC:clap:

Kewl (again). Well the way it appears that toaster is feeling i can't see a rush needed as his body will take that long to recover. No point having a new bike that you have to push yourself physically to ride.
Toaster, that swollen elbow i had started weeping and on Sunday night i went to put a band aid on it and it just popped open. Must have been about 50 to 100 mls of semi coagulated deep dark purple blood came out. It was burbing out like a pimple, only lasting for 20 mins. A day after that and I feel so much better. just a pointer on what you may experience..lol. Hope all is better and getting better every day.

Exactly right mate! At least we don't have to worry about deadlines as it is sure is taking a long time to get the health right first and also fight off boredom watching American Chopper and Alt TV naked news.....:gob:
Look after your health too! pm sent.

I'm watching OCC at the moment!
Bling bling! The two main parts orders from DLP (mufflers separate and then the rest of the bling in the other) left the USA two days ago.
That later order I put in recently for new grips/mirrors etc I put in will come directly to me (probably in 2 months time!) and I should be able to do those mods myself.<_<
I ordered that "front" Metz 160 so that will be on its way tomorrow - I guess at least it will be worth trying as a one off. It will look sweet with the tyre lettering paint too.
Once that wears out I can always try the local Pirelli tyres. I ran Pirellis on my old GSXR750K4 - they were fantastic tyres and stuck like glue when cornering fast.

Cheers mate, yeah I think that Metz front tyre would have to be the most expensive bloody front tyre to get imported! It will be great to see your M50 if that is what you end up getting too. The M50 is a damn nice cruiser.

So... when will Mr Toaster be ready to ride? Are you healing up well?
Well that's more the issue.... general healing is okay, some back pain and lots of rib pain still. The management of avoiding further blood clots will be ongoing for months and my liver will take a long time to heal. With a little family to care for the last thing we need is a blood clot taking me out at 36! The lung clot was bad enough!!
I have three appointments coming up to work out the extent of the memory damage from the head injury. Looking on the bright side, I guess I am fortunate to have taken off enough speed before impact to avoid a worse injury - even if this injury may cost me my career!

BONUS!
I originally ordered 160 and 260 Metz tyres for the bike.
Cancelled and confirmed cancellation of the 260 I sourced locally (cheaper).
Given the 160 Metz is not imported to NZ through dealers, I went ahead with that order only, with reduced shipping.
The company confirmed my order for the 160 only.
Guess what arrived.... the 160 AND the 260.
Thanks for the free Metz 260 tyre :):done:

The beast is ready to rock , paint and tins back tomorrow, and we can button this beast up and test ride . This beast is blacked out from the front head light to the rims, Now with a phat front 160 and a 260 rear tire[Metzler's], new grips, wing pegs, engine guards,mirrors,jsd3 mod which will give full power through every gear, remapped ecu, big bore exhaust, and letting this beast breath through the new Holley intakes, to stop the popping at deceleration ,pair valve removed and set valve also removed to give the big exhaust a real thump now this 1800cc 109cubic inch beast will have a real sound.
This evil 9 will shift like a sports bike ,with it's new power shift kit, the shift kit is a busa's setup short shift linkage and a preloaded cam lever , this will make the beast shift through the gears smooth as a baby's bum, this all thanks to Factory Pro. www.factorypro.com
Now project evil should run around 137 hp at rear wheel and 125fpt at 3200rpm.
Toaster will post pics as it is his bike, and to be fear he has not seen much of this bike.
check out the new helmets that we have brought into NZ for the bikes . www.akumahelmets.com . stealth and ghost rider.
So all that is left is for Project Evil to meet Project Black. Two bad ass m109r coming to a road near you soon:wari:

I thought Suzukis shifted OK anyway?
I've got one of those shift kits (it is the Evo Star you're talking about?) Makes a big difference, especially on a shitty Honda 'box.

The 109 felt more like a tractor to shift... just that much more harsh than the gixxers. it's still a bit cluncky thru neutral but apart from that I hear its much improved.
Funny you shoudl say that about Hondas... my old VTR had an awful box.
