It's more the night after I'm worried about, we're staying at the Midtown, guess will have to be off with 3hrs travel time?? Guess I should backtrack to Bulls rather than go the paraparas in the Van? What do reckon?

Well at this stage for me it looks like I'm leaving at 4am on Sat on the Guzzi and riding to the racetrack then racing the bucket. Then crashing "somewhere" overnight, racing the next day and then riding back on the Guzzi that day.
Gonna be a long, long weekend !!!

Yeah well I've been known to be a little crazy before ;)
Guzzi is not too bad (just don't ask the pillions for their opinion ) , I'll put the bikini fairing on it, plus Skunk will take my gear in his van.
edit - Mrs Nudey has told me I can use the car for that weekend, so it's not so bad afterall.

The Delta is going through some drastic repairs after being cartwheeled not once but twice at Taumarunui over labour weekend.
Bent the forks, repairable but I'd have to pay someone to straighten them. Then picked up a set of much better CBR600 forks from JS in Auckland. Just fitted new seals, and making it all fit now, which includes refitting all the front brake.
At the other end my Tailpipe is about 80mm shorter. as the crash pushed in the endplate at the inlet end. had to strip modify and reassemble it.
Hoping to get it all ready and get in a few laps before Taupo.

hi everyone, just to up date you on entries for taupo, the combined class races for sunday now have 47 bikes- the 5 guys/girls racing in f4 & f5 and cant race both bikes at once, gives us the max we are allowed on track, 42. So we are now taking afew reaserves who can practise but only race if 42 do not come out on track. the nzf4 GP has 28 entries & F5 8 entries, so still some room there. cu there, chris.

You can never get too much practice, especially the way I keep falling off. Running the GS 500 in the Pre 89's as well a the Delta in the buckets. This year. If I don't keep up with the riding, I notice riding fitness drops considerably and quite quickly.
Took the old GS 500 to manfield (first time) last weekend. What a blast, More practice at Taupo on the 13th Dec (Suzuki track day) Taking the 5 Hundy and the Delta, which should be all fixed up by then.

:Offtopic:[
I Dunno to be honest I've never raced it. However
It's standard except for some great tyres aquired from Karl Morgan. I ran it in the Beginners class at Manfield because. I hadn't ridden the track before, and I didn't think it would be quick enough for the intermediate class. It handles superbly on the new tyres. No problems getting my new down. Got wasted on the main straight by the GSXR's and SV 1000's. But easily made up for it, going round the outside of them on the corners. Bear in mind it was the wobblers group, but pissed a few of them off being passed by an old 5 hundy.
I don't think it will win races, but it's good fun to ride. Will be better on the shorter tracks. Taupo will be interesting

I remember Ray winning some Taupo races on his RS125 flabergasting an R1 in the process. But a Bucket?!? That would have been hilarious!
Falling off hasn't stopped ND winning a 2hr. (But a 15 lap race may be a different story). Yes we are all screwed.

Took the Delta and 5 Hundy to Taupo for a Suzuki track day yesterday. Met up with Tim Fraser of Auckland. Had a real blast buckets were having a field day in the beginner class. The two 150's making some large capacity spotsbikes look very average.
Then I got Busted and flagged off cos the Delta wasn't a genuine Suzuki. The bike was cleared by the track Steward, then one of the track marshals got real anal and I was flagged off. I was gutted after I'd spoke to the right people and got the bike approved.
Oh well, good job I took along the 5 Hundy then. The GS 500 is hardly a sportsbike and felt like a tank after riding the Delta. It was certainly quicker on the straight sections but about even with the buckets on the infield.
Stepped up into the intermediate class. Which was better riding than with the wobblers. Had some delays due to crashes. At least 3 GSXR's, with 2 being almost certain write offs.
Tim stepped up into the intermediates with me for the last ride, and it was all on, He thrashed the nuts off that poor little FXR, and I had to work bloody hard to keep up. We blitzed a lot of the field, getting creamed only on the straights.
Here's a couple of pics of what you've all got to look forward to. Check out Tim coming outside to big sports bikes into the front straight.

Granma here.
Yes the two of them certainly did make those boys & girls on the big bikes look really slow. :niceone:
Of course they weren't allowed to pass on the inside either. Steve had a guy (when he was in the wobbler group)on a 1000 Gixer fly passed him right on a corner...now that shouldn't be a problem right.....except that he slammed on the brakes right in front of Steve. Steve had to either hit him or go on the inside. Next thing Steve was getting told off for passing on the inside!!!!!
We have it all on video tho. The guy on the gixer, binned it twice on the left hander at the end of the front straight.
In the intermediate class they really stood out as they were the only two riders to get there knees down. The rest of the class sat real rigid on the seats or had their body positions all wrong.
Tim and Steve did have a great ride in the last event of the day. Of course they weren't racing.

I'm getting sorted for this. Looks like me and Cricket will be going. I want to share a garage which we might end up sleeping in, if possible. I was wondering who had what on offer and when it would be available. If anyone is turning up the night/afternoon of the 26th we might come down then for a bit of socialising and to lessen stuff to do on the 27th. It looks like my bike is going with Karl (thanks) so I'll be just cruising in the Legnum and meeting it there on the morning of the 27th. Has anyone thought of taking a microwave oven?? you can get some quite nice heat-n-eat stuff now.

Self inflicted as well. I have removed the counterbalancer but couldn't get the bearing for it out of the left case. I tried heat and banging it but it didn't even move. Yesterday it did. It fell into the gears, did a few laps inside and then somehow passed throught the hole in the right case where the counterbalancer and the other bearing was and ended up resting down by the gear select mechanism. How it didn't break up or jam a cog, or how it got past the primary gear I don't know. The box won't reliably shift from 5th to 4th now. Some good luck, some bad luck. It could have been another engine explosion easily.

Well, I guess the makers of gloves know how riders fall and that's why I have all that hard armor in the knuckles!!) and thumbs and wrists, sore head from suspected concusion... so yes, more dizzy and confused than I normally am. Otherwise I'm all good, bike came out fairly unscathed, ground down a bit of nylon and bent the gear shift, that's all, pretty good!! YUP sure was contact. Guy thought he could stick it up the inside but when he got there he found there really wasn't the room for him so bit of a bump off Trudes went and on he went.
Poor guy was really really apologetic and came over to the Welly pits straight after the race to fess up, apologise and check if she was alright, he obviously felt quite bad but what a nice young man for fronting up and checking on her :niceone: Bucketeers really do show the best comradeship I reckon.

Hey all. I'm OK.
They suspected a head injury due to me face planting the track and the damage to my helmet and my neck was a bit sore, so that's why all the drama with the ambo, which was fair enough, sorry about ending the race early fellas!!
Glad to hear you are ok, that was a bit of a scare when you didn't get up.

I've got some red on my number board maybe from your lid or leathers also. Sorry about the rude passing mate, good to see it hasn't put you off racing.:sweatdrop
how did you end up coming down?? did your front end tuck, or grab a handfull of front brake? luckily our bikes didn't get hung up on each other.

just a quick note from the organisers. thanks all you guys & girls for turning up, it was a neat sight to see 37 bikes on the start line. must have been a few braek down on the sat. do you want GP at taupo again ? as we have to apply, & will only do it if you want it, but i reckon it was a success because it brought bucketeers from all over together. maybe now a couple of mainlander buckets have been here they might be able to encourage more. anyway thanks again . chris

No worries, it would take more than that to put me off bucket racing.
I have a feeling the front tucked in as I don't think I would have gone for the brake as I was intent on keeping my line and thought you would go on into the grass if you didn't have room to pass safely. First time I'd ridden the bike at any type of pace, so really had no idea how it would react to being bumped.... obviously it didn't like it and decided to make me face plant!!
Anyway, no harm done, nothing that won't heal (or can be repaired). Thanks for showing concern instead of just going "oh well *shrug*"
Oh and yes, I'd be keen on the GP being there every year!!

You can count us in for next year, Taupo is a great location for the GP, and gives access to a lot more riders. Hopefully we'll be running an F5 as well as the F4's next year, as well as the Pre-89. I think we're gunna need a bigger trailer for all the bikes. Getting to race the old GS 5 hundy was a blast, I've never had so much fun.
As in past years the event was fantastic and a credit to all the guys who orgainsed, marshalled, scruntineered and sponsored . Well Done to all !!

FUCK YES... sort it for next year and Ill try my best to get back and ill try my best to bring others.
I qualified 3rd and was going for 2nd when the rod broke and poked out the side... I want another chance at that farking trophy.
Right... as I had rooted my F4 ride (still had the blue LC) in the last race I went out on Pamala as truds went with the grey ghost.
I have to say, Pammie is the worst excuess for a motor bike I have ever ridden, positivly horrid sliding bending the front felt like a Korean fishing boat... but after a couple a laps I was humming, I have to say riding that white POS was the best race I had... bucket racing as it was, loved it.
However it was soon ended as I went past the S/F the red was showing and I saw that knob BF of Helens on his arse in turn 1... carried on a 3rd more of the track and seen Trudes on the deck (why the hell did no one stop and why were there no officials helping her) so with flaggies waving me to slow down I torpiedoed past locked oll Pammy up dumped her in the grass and draged T off the track then her bike... LOL sorted shit out and headed back to the pits to let Kendog know shes putting on a hollywood after wheeling pamala and doing a lap of honer for truds LMFAO.

Firstly, thanks so much for stopping to help Trudi. I was freaking out watching from the pit wall, so close yet unable to get over there myself. When you got back and let me know what was going on the relief was huge. The Pamela wheelie was one of the weekend highlights.
It was cool watching the buckets racing. Trudi was looking good on my bike, and Pamela was getting a good thrashing :2thumbsup Here are a couple of photos from that race, plus one of you on your other bike.
I had a great couple of days, my vote is we do this again at Taupo next year.

hi fellow bucketeers, just an update on the TRRS. firstly DVDs if you havent got them already you should have them this week, but unfortunatly they are not what they are supposed to be, with no bucket racing on them. they have the televised coverage & afew other races which are uncommintated, im sorry but this is all they have sent us & there is nothing else they will send us even under protest. We have applied for the F4 & F5 GPs again, & we havejust applied for the permit for the 2009 TRRS, & entry forms are ready, so will be posting them out at the beggining of June, to everyone who raced last year first. I will start a new thread, when we send the forms out so riders dont have to go through 31 pages to see what its all about. Chris
