View Full Version : 7/8" alloy clip-on tube?

Hey, usual story, just checking what people are doing these days.

Clip-on on RS125 is just a straight piece of 7/8" tubing held by a clamp. But this is not readily available in thick-wall suitable for bike handle bar.

So my options are
1. Buy some bar & drill it.
2. Cut up some cheapo MX bar (although hard to get long enough if want to mount m/c on other side of clamp, really need it to be guess 270 long).

Or is there a supply of this stuff now available somewhere?

Yes I have them. RS 125 handle bars available as sets or as singles. They even have a nice plastic bar end plus in them.
$50 at set.

I used to get my handle bars for the RS from www.TSRworldwide.com
It used to be about $10 a bar. but i suppose that has gone up now as they have them on there for $28.87

How important is a few grams of weight? go solid and have bars that'll never break and act as crash protectors

The problem with solid bars is the strain is taken by the next item in line and in the case of the RS its the much more expensive handle bar clamp or the fork that will have to absorb the force. I would go for a light hollow bar designed to break/bend every time.

Ah yes, but I'm thinking dave has this in mind for his RG framed bucket. But yes you are right, I suppose there is a chance of damaging a bucket clipon too. or worse the fork.

Either way, its cheaper to get 50$ a set.

Yes I briefly entertained steel bar but better to not trash the clamp.

Thanks for the ideas guys.
