Being an inquisitive person...

A mate handed me his old Dukes of Hazard style air horn, and I smiled. A lot.

Hooked it up, but I think I hooked it backwards. Couldn't figure what polarity an all black wire was, compared to an all black wire with a thin *and I mean thin* blue stripe down the length.
So, I just tried it.
Compressor sounded like it was dying, and only got through two notes before I stopped the horn. BecAAAAAUSE the backlights on my guages weren't on, and my tacho sits indefinitely on zero thousand rpm.

Three questions.

1. Guessing I got polarity wrong, and blew a fuse or something, right?
2. Where is the fuse box, and
3. How the hell do I get my tank off, or seat for that matter.

Want to check my air filter and the state of any/all wires underneath it.

Guessing it's time to go over to Mr. Tool-neighbour to ransack his toolset.

The compressor did work off my 12v 7AH battery before I tried on my bike, just to rule it out. Of me being stupid. Found my Idle twisty turny thing though =) Which is good.

Thanks in advance for any help, but preferably not the 'rofl n00b got pwnd' type help. I know I'm a noob, and judging by how much I've spent on my pushbike, I haven't learned my lesson. Yes.

Can't help you cause I know shit, but was thinking about getting one of those for my bucket, but you have to have a battery aparantly... so can't.:(

Remove seat. or unlock . Remove bolt from gastank and lift off . Take off right hand side cover fuses may be under there . it may well be a fuse or put air horns on pump and try that the pump mite need .oil hope that helps.:apint:

Nah, it works fine on a battery.
Just got the polarity wrong first-off on the bike.

You don't mean all those yucky bolts above and behind the rear wheel, do you?

2. Its has a black cover with FUSES written on it. UNDER the seat OR side cover I bet under seat.(look in OWNERS MANUAL for location)
3. Usually requires a (THE) key... Look for KEY HOLE...insert and TURN...either way ...usually. (igNITion key...usually)

3. You can imagine my surprise when I see a hose running off the helmet lock thing, that almost looks like it's headed towards the seat! So I turn and lock the lock, and keep going and :gob: The seat pops!!!!
Holy shit.
Fuse box didn't have a cover, and the middle left fuse says 10 on it, and it's red. Pretty flexible too, it blew itself.
So I need a new, red, 32v fuse at... Aaaaaaat. 10 amps. WOOHOO!!! Let's hope Mobil has some of these fangdangled technological things. Sweet! Cheers all.

I used to run air horns in my cars (back when there was actually space under the bonnet to mount them), and found that you had to run them through the relay supplied.
If not, then the current draw is too much and you will blow the fuse after a few blasts.
Also I don`t recon you`d be using 32 Amp fuses on a 12 Volt system...more like a 12V(volt) 10A(amp) fuse.

Well, I just copied the fuse. said 10 on top, and 32v on the bottom right side, in the tiniest writing I have ever seen. Politicians now have competition.
Two blasts, and it did die :violin:
Yeah, anyone who's looked under a sub 2.0 manual engine from the likes of an escort, etc would wonder if it was powered solely by a starter motor.

A relay is no biggie...an auto sparkie will do it quickly, or tell you how. less hassle than other ways.
