#$#@!$%#!$!$#!$ Well i was noticing a bit of drag on the top end of the revs and so when i took a look at the can i find that middle thingy has com loos at one end and so is now the exit hols is well halved sorta. Anywho i cant get at it because after taking the can off i realise that is it welded inside the thing and the oly way to get at it is to cut open the can. I have a few ideas as to how i can fix this but first i want to see how much an old slip on will cost etc. Anyone got any ideas??

KK how did you ....."make" yours hahaha

[Pedant alert] I suspect you mean "slip-on can" (a name) rather than "slip on can" (a safety instruction).

Isn't punctuation marvellous!

See at least one person understands :confused2 :confused2 :confused2That's possibly because his Swirling Vortex of Zeal was also subject to a "middle thingy has com loos at one end" (technical term). So, he has some sort of empathetic (or is the 'em' redundant?) response to your sorry story.

Yeah, except that my middle thingy commed loos at BOTH ends.

Actually, it was Blakamin's middle thingy. But I prefer not to think about which end Blakamin's middle thingy coms at, loose or otherwise.

So, he has some sort of empathetic (or is the 'em' redundant?) response to your sorry story.

I think the 'et' is redundant.

Not quite.

Empathetic and empathic are two different words. They are both adjectives of Empathy. The first is the most traditional one, where the second is often referred to in the psionic sense a la Counsellor Troy in STNG. They can be used interchangeably though.

Shouldn't you interchange 'first' and 'second', there?

No Empathetic is the correct adjective of Empathy. Empathic is a recent spelling adaptation.

Anyone got any ideas??Oh sorry - I tripped over the unusual translation from Danish, Swahili or whatever and missed this little bit.

How about: get the middle thingy straight, put a rod down the middle, fill the can up with some of that expanding foam, then pull the rod out? That should hold the middle thingy in place and make your bike stealthily quiet. :niceone:

Well it is an idea.
You didn't say it had to be a good one.

And it's better than my first idea which was to use fast-setting concrete.

It's not my fault it's my first day back at work this year and I've gone nuts.

What i was actually asking. Through the use of many technical terms is , is there a way of fixing this. Was gonna put a bit of pipe in the end so it hooks on the outer casing....... But hey i don't need it to be good or quickly as the bike goes fast enough as is :eek5: but it might be nice to see what my options are. Also does anyone know the cost of a slip on can like not a yoshi or micron or anything but something usable.... a website would be helpfull.. Cheers

I'm getting a battery for the CBR600 tomorrow, so I'll rev the nuts off it and record it so you can hear what it sounds like. Bloody Marvellous!

What i was actually asking. Through the use of many technical terms is , is there a way of fixing this. Was gonna put a bit of pipe in the end so it hooks on the outer casing....... Could you get some perforated core (technical term) of the appropriate diameter from a muffler shop and stuff it up the inlet/outlet end? I did this (initially) as a temporary fix for the FahrtSturm's bafflectomy: got some perforated core, cut it to length, cut some slits in it to wedge it into the existing baffle tubes and hold it tight, then stuffed it tight into the end of the muffler. Then I riveted it to the muffler through the little drain hole at the bottom of the end spout. Quietened it down to "LOUD" from "VERY LOUD!"
Then, having deflected the immediate attention of the police and other do-gooders away from the noisy beast, I had time to devise a better fix, to whit - a ploog (TM).

No, it's the CBR600FH I've had in the garage not working since I got the TRX (sob) that Heather won't let me race in pre-'89, no matter how much whining I do.

I've discarded the shattered lower fairings, cable tied the side covers to the subframe, and F5Dave (lovely chap) made it work for me. Getting a new battery tomorrow, a 2nd hand rear tyre on Monday, then off to the Testing Station for a new plate.

The hjacking in here is starting to look like an Al Qaeda operation.

The CBR handles better than you would imagine. The TRX steered like a dream once the suspension was sorted. The CBR, despite the steel frame, skinny forks, and lo-tech rear suspension flicks from side to side a lot quicker than the TRX, and it "feels" better mid-corner. The TRX handles better under power though.

Yup... Wrecker or old style bike shop (you know, the ones where they hoard stuff, never to be seen again)... I got a black carbon fibre (looking, may have been fake) later model ZX9r can for my old ZXR750, a bit damaged by a swing arm munt on the invisible side of the can and a bit rubbed where the hanger used to be - for $60 !

Sounded freaking awesome ! Angry even... MMmmm nasty can... Well worth checking a few shops and wreckers for 'leftovers'

Sedge.

Just a note that may come in handy, my Laser Zorst is actually for a ZXR9 - fits with a small piece of joiner pipe. Might help if your lookin for a 2nd hand pipe

Had some monteiths Kristall-Weizen spicy clove beer at New Years.... I bet after 7 of them you would still be far more lucid than above. They taste like very little at all, which is weird......especially for monteiths....

Most people think the Radler is too sweet, but then I enjoy a good litre shot of shandy sometimes, especially when it's hot. The Radler gives me a nice shandy hit. Very embarrassing, but there you go.
