Also back to Stratford races in March 1999,dads horse won and paid $57 win,I had a few $$ on him,but with hindsight would have got the trifecta around $8500 for $1.

Any of the WRC rally events of 1986, just to see the Group B rally cars up close and driven in anger just once.

When the first hot babes jello wrestled, the first biatch slap, hare vs tortoise, the race to see which unit of matter got a head start in the big bang of the universe, when it starts to rain and the first rain drop hits, the inaugural bubble-wrap popping contest ... just a few off the top of my head! :innocent:

It would have to be motor racing and it would have to involve a kiwi. Scott winning Indi this year, or maybe Denny Hulme racing a McLaren Can Am car!

Tennis, boxing, Golf, motor sports - we've just been thru the best era you could imagine - boxing's taken a bit of a dive but we've seen the likes of Sugar Ray, Mohumand Ali, Forman and Fraser.
Tennis has never been as exciting as Macinroe thru to the latest players, the Williams sisters certainly took the womens game to a whole new level.
Golf - Tigar has to be the most dynamic golfer in the history of golf

hamish carter winning olympic gold. i remember i was driving to work in auckland, and had to listen to it on the radio. i was screaming at him to GO!

also, the 1989 hawaiian ironman - dave scott vs mark allen, head to head for 8 hours. i watched an interview with scott - he said he was sprinting on the marathon, with 6 miles to go, and allen was just sitting right next to him, also tapped right out.

The 1948 Olympic games. A Danish guy called Paul Elvstrom was competing in his first Olympics (sailing - Firefly class). In the first race he got hollered at by another competitor and, being shy, decided that Olympic sailing was not for him, gave up, and sailed home. Back on shore he changed his mind and decided to race the remainder of the competition ultimately winning gold. He was 20 and is still the youngest winner of an Olympic gold medal for sailing. He is one of only two Olympians (the other being Carl Lewis) to win gold four Olympics in a row and between 1948 and 1960 invented almost all the techniques used in dinghy racing today.

He briefly came out of retirement in 1984 to sail the Olympics with his daughter, for a laugh. They were fourth.

So, I would go watch a shy Danish kid change a sport forever.

Easy choice for me - the 1936 olympics, where Jesse Owens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Owens) won 4 gold medals in Germany during the height of the Nazi "racist" regime where they promoted concepts of "Aryan racial superiority" and depicted ethnic Africans as inferior.... would love to have been a fly on the wall to see Hitlers face when a black man took the gold!

One of my favourite stories! Go Jesse :wari:

Any football match where Scotland beat England

 I know this is a fantasy thread but come on Jim. :killingme

1966 when England won the real world cup or when jesse ? owens stuck it to Adolf in the olyimpics or when Wolverine nailed a trooper to the fridge, oh no that wasn't real was it. Or when Ireland win anything, the best party animals in the world.

I know, I know, any ladies beach volleyball competition where elastic faliure comes into play.

Can I have a real fantasy one? a moto gp with kenny roberts ,Barry sheen, mick doohan, waine rainey, Kevin schwantz, Valentino Rossi, stoner pedrosa and all the other greats on top form. Man that'd be something.

German F1 GP 1957, Nürburgring -- watch Fangio in an ancient Maserati 250F start on pole, get stuck in the pits, come from almost a minute behind the leaders at the halfway point, to break the lap record by 11 seconds then go on to win the race (and thus the world championship).

Or yes, going to 1960, see the first time Honda pulled out their multi RC161 against all the Euro bikes :D
