So its come time to get rid of the beast that is the katana :innocent: and go for something a little more "Sportier" and much better looking.

Ive got my eyes on either an 04 CBR600RR or a 2004 GSXR600 (because the newer gixxers are ,this coming from someone who owns a katana )

Yes i have riddern them both and naturally ive found them to be be night and day compared to my poor katana and to be honest i really cant make up my mind between these two inncredibly nice bikes because they both fill all the boxes in terms of comfort, power, and weight. So im looking for peoples/owners views on these two bikes i.e: experiences with the bikes in regards to maintenance, hickups, dislikes etc and just general opinions on owning and riding them on the street.

owned the k4 600 for 4+ years 50,000kms

they only have one problem as a whole, stva(secondary throttle butterfly actator), which is an easy fix.

Other than, plenty of parts around, goes good.

yea, ive been reading your bike review about that which kinda got me looking at the gsxr600 ,whats you opinion vs say the CBRR in terms of road riding ? and would you've got the 750cc gixxer over the 600 now or ...

i was looking at the 750, but didn't like colour scheme, but personally 600 goes good, with all the mods i have, and a few i have sitting at home to go in the bike, will make it go even better, and the 750 are a little overpriced new in nz really.

But my 600 goes fucken good, and being a 600 there is tons of race parts around from the guys racing supersport, who when they upgrade to the new model sell off old parts, some silly cheap.

never road the honda so no real idea what it goes like, don't like look/style of it.

Advantage of the gsxr to the cbr, upside down forks, radial-mounted calipers/master-cylinder.

But really they are so close, together in performance, handling etc, (as all the 600 are), buy which one turns you on.

Thanks mate ,you actually just answered all i wanted to know really  .Ill be looking at second hand so odds are the one i get will have been modded already, after all how can you resist the sound of that 600 through Yoshimuras :2guns:

Guess im going to have to try and get either out for a couple days so i can actually trial it out for what im going to be useing it for (twisties and half/full days in the saddle) because a 1 hour test ride is nothing

Have you ridden the R6? Y'know the version before the latest looking one, '05's I think.
Won't go into too many details but they are f'ing quick and not too bad in the looks department too, not as radical as the '06 on but more usable from what I understand.
Also the ZX636 would be worth looking at too, just not a green one for obvious reasons...

;) ahh geez yea i actually didnt think of the yammy  ,hmm i do like the look of it tho :2thumbsup, might have to pop into Phil Turnbulls today and have a squiz at one, just always hear about the R6 being so peaky and being alot less road riding friendly than the gixxer and cbr.Yea 636 i do like but when i sat on it ,it felt like my knees were up behind my head and yea just the ergonomics were horrible so i left that .
ill be going for a black whichever bike i get tho .

Yeah i got a full system with yoshi can, which i have recent cut 2" off, and repacked it, sounds really really nice.

i did 4500 trip around SI on mine, in 3 weeks, by end of it my left wrists where killing me, but mostly since i am 6'2 and a tad really big for it, in the touring purposes. I have modified my seat a bit of course to be more comfort for long distance. But handled up to everything fine.

Go the previous version to the latest so that'll be '05 or before but by all means have a look at the '06 on, very very hot looking bike but the older style of R6 would be a far better road bike probably.
PT's have a second hand '07 R6 for sale and on TM there is a couple (I think) of black older version R6's.
Go on, step outside that grey old box, k'now ya want to. :Punk:
By the way, black is a bastard of a colour to keep tidy looking!

Yea im about the same height but am a bit of a featherweight,so thats why im getting rid of the katana and going to something more lighter and flickable as the kat is one hell of a beast to move in the chicanes

yea im with you on the 05 fairing look :Punk:,like the "older" fairing styles instead of the 6-7-8 piece fairing on the latest r6 etc

well im a bit of a pansy and dont mind cleaning every nok and cranny on a daily basis lol once you give it a buffering it looks better than anything out their too:love:,plus it add to the whole badass biker image :2guns: :innocent:

 geez now im back to square one lol, ahwell i think im off to have a perv at those r6's then, and book me into a test ride :wari:

:laugh: yea yea very good ,The r6 will be getting a good going over today in the lunch break hopefully :2guns: mind you with the recent threads about test riding and weird insureance policys i might just have to buy it without riding it <_<

Havent been ghey for a while and the Honda does look bloody nice with the underseat pipes and "knees up behind you neck" riding style ,which is quite a laugh especially when you try to put a pillion on
