Fully legit. So are the Maori warrants and registrations.

It's true bro.

That's great news. It means if a car has a Maori Warrant and the axle fails in front of you causing you to crash you can claim money back from the Maori Parliament for issuing a warrant to an unsafe vehicle.

Similarly if a Maori licence holder crashes into you for being incompetent you can claim compensation from the Maori Parliament. You cousins and grandchildren will be able to do this also.

The Maori Parliament will then realise that with authority comes culpability....and a price....

Sorry to disappoint old bean but there's a Scotsman in charge of the UK now. And we aren't really that precious about it anyway since centuries of interbreeding means we're all pretty much part of the same people with the English, Irish, Welsh, Danish, French and Germans now. It's only the small minded europeans that still get uppity about it.

Have you been over to Europe? If you haven't you should go, you'd like it.

Mate, I couldn't really care less what colour or creed you are. I do respect that as a Maori you are part of one of NZ's earlier settlers and for that the Maori are due some respect and consideration, especially considering the way the euro's treated the earlier Maori, but come on...is it not time that it was water under the bridge? NZ is made up of KIWI's now. The race segregation stuff is dangerous.(not insinuating that you are segregating between Maori & other, just that McJim has some points in what he is saying).
NZ is made of Kiwis all run by one government representative of everyone & everyone has the same basic rights of a good health system, their own culture (which you are right in defending; it is what makes Maori who they are) education, security & safety etc. . This should be celebrated as a different culture...but there are certainly no requirements fo any one people to have special priveledges....

Sorry mate I was being serious. Europe is a nice place.

I wasn't taking the piss with my original post either so I must confess that I am disappointed that you are getting the wrong end of the stick.

I suspect that the Maori WOF and licence is more of a political statement rather than a concerted atempt to make road travel safer. If this is true then I am, once again deeply disappointed. The licences, warrants and compliance enforced by the government of New Zealand on vehicles is not there to victimise any group but rather to ensure the roadworthiness of the public fleet of vehicles and the drivers who control them. When I find these regulations to be unsatisfactory I speak out. I have no idea of the rigour of the Maori WOF and licences and I merely pointed out that if they were not raised with appropriate rigour to ensure safety on the public highway then the issuing authority should be prepared to face the consequences of wielding this power.

Why has this caused you offence?

I think that the main thing you are saying that is worth noting, is the comment on culpability. A government (or any authority for that matter) needs to be held to account for its actions. Something that this current government still has not yet learnt.

If there's no warrant or rego, I think the police should be able tow the car and have it impounded.

Yep, he was a Class A (some pun intended) tosser alright.

But the cop had a good point. The Maori licence, warrant, rego, etc. might be valid, but not on roads governed by the laws of New Zealand. The Maori have enough land they've been handed back that the Maori Parliament (whoever the fuck they are) could build its own roads on where they'd be perfectly legal. But the rantings of the prick in the rooted Commodore simply reflected the same delusion claptrap spouted by Maori sovereignty activists throughout the country.

I agree, but the sheer volume of unregistered and unwarranted vehicles out there would cause even more storage issues for the tow companies paying rental per square metre on cars with residual sale values of bugger all to recoup their costs.

Maybe a more liberal use of the court confiscation and destruction option would be in order. They now do this in Aussie for some serious offenders/defaulters. The 'boy racers' have to watch their pride and joy be crushed.

Now there you go, talking sense again! :nono: I do think that any unregistered and unwarranted car, should be immediately "siezed" and prevented from driving off, if it is over a certain period. Say two months? Or if it is obviously in an unsafe condition.

A single case of a lapsed WOF or rego may be due to a slip of the mind or the driver may be addressing a minor WOF issue that doesn't detract from immediate safety, so some leeway should be incorporated.

Other than that, I agree with McJim... (except for the blowjob bit...)

Which I guess is linked to the fiasco that started this thread.

I wish there was one law/rule/rights for EVERYBODY who is a Kiwi, not a separatist reverse-racial discrimination as we have now.

Exactly.

The more we have Maori this and Maori that the more this country will be divided. South Africa anyone?

I for one do not see myself as a racist, although I have been guilty of race stereotyping from time to time. But to me, having a political party based solely on race is rather... well... racist? Imagine if there was a "NZ European party"? and then an "Indian" party etc etc etc. Every year that passes the races are getting more and more watered down, I have no idea how much Maori blood you need in you to be considered "Maori" but judging by some of the Maori All Blacks and student on Maori Scholarships then it's not a hell of a lot. If we had individual governments based on race, I'd probably be able to have multiple choices.

Back in 1862 or whatever, yea some shit happened, it happened on every continent that someone decided to hop on a boat, discover and then claim. But my one answer to the whole "Give us back our land" claim, is to reply simply "Give us back our muskets and blankets, can't find them? Oh well."

I know I have very simplistic view of everything, simply because I don't care. Why? Because caring is stressful and nothings gonna change so long as the issue exists. One extreme is we don't recognize anything Maori, tell them to HTFU and the country remains divided. The other is we bow down and give them everything they want, and all live in little "European reserves" while the country goes to shit.

So yea, we're all Kiwi's, and anyone who's fighting otherwise is part of the problem not the solution. Both sides need to HTFU otherwise no one will win and we'll all be speaking Chinese in 50 years

Sorry if my post has offended anyone in anyway, it was not my intention. I just don't give 2 shits about politics in this country anymore, I just live my own life from day to day with as little stress as possible. If it gets unbarable then I'm gonna piss off to Singapore (if I can get a job with Singapore airlines), thus adding to the great NZ brain drain caused solely by our Government :whocares::innocent:
