How's everybody's feedback on the "Whangamata Trail Ride"?

Just checked the silver bullet website and its this Sunday, 29 Jun 2008. Is it worth going 220km each way from Gulf Harbour? I will think it will take around 3hrs each way... without staying the night there.

I'm just trying to do as many trail rides as possible!!!

It either looks like not a lot of people have done this trail ride, or its just an average ride....

Any feedback on it would be much appreciated!!!

I know of people who have done it, thought it was great! but that was in summer.. said there was heaps of clay though, so it would probably be quite slippery.. Ive got a review of the 'Whangamata Trail Bike Riders Club' trail ride, dont know if it is the same trail, but its out of a DRD magazine,

"The surface is mainly clay, and when it got wet later in the day it kept me on my toes ( and my backside a couple of times too!) but there was still plenty of grip to be found on the right lines"

hope that helps, if you do end up going, please tell us how it went!

I did 1 of the first rides when it was open. very narrow tracks very dusty in summer. I would say being winter be very rutted out by now and slippery. Also lots of trees to avoid in the bush section along with old stumps. Track may have changed i rode 6 months ago was still a good short ride.
