Re-registering a write-off?

Hows it going?

I'm just weighing up the costs of purchasing a write off motorcycle from a person on behalf of an insurance company. The person advertising the motorcycle says that you would need to get the bike checked over by someone BEFORE fixing the bike and making it road worthy, then after fixing the bike we have to show it to the person again.

Can someone please guide me through the steps of re-registering/warranting/etc a damaged write-off motorcycle?
