I thought they had built-in crash bars? Isn't that what cylinder 1 and 6 are for?

Cool - thanks Allan. The bars they list are for the '82 Pro Link model, so not sure if fitment is the same for the earlier twin shock bike, but I fired off an email to them and see what they come back with.

What was the 6-1 pipe? I've only found the DG/Hardkrome ones so far and apparently they look good but don't work too well... (which is what that pic looks like)

Yep - thats a DG unit. There is also a 6-2 full MAc system listed - pretty cheap. In US dollars.

yeah I tend to agree from what I've seen so far, I wanted to take the original pipes off and rust seal/store them as they are mint and a new set is big $$$ so I might look at getting a pattern set of OEM ones just for using on the bike..though I'm still in two minds on that too..lol

Hmmm CBX pipes - buy a welder and a bucket load of exhaust bends and start playing

the inline 6 and the V - 8 are insufficiently utilised engine layouts, IMO.

Well, thanks for the input guys - especially AllanB :) much appreciated.

I got lucky and scored the attached system, brand new still in the original box Kerker 6 into 2 system, so a bit more noise without being rowdy, nice balanced semi-stock look and real 'period' pieces! Not too bad a deal either at $1450 shipped from a private guy in the US.

On doing some more investigation for anyone that is interested, the DG 6-1 is not very nicely made and takes quite a bit of tuning to get rid of mid-range flat spots.
The MAC system is really nasty (as is most of their product) and is really a last resort. Jama & Laser (which I think may be the same companies now) make a very good OEM copy that sells for about US$900.
Beats the hell out of the crazy prices that stock Honda systems go for on Ebay (new systems have reached US$4000 plus, while good used ones often reach half that with ease :gob:)

Just have to wait for it to turn up, then its off with mint stock pipes and they can go into storage.
Also, found a guy making replicas of the original Hondaline crash bars, so they are coming too, pic also attached.

Yep those Spondon frames are a horn piece of kit alright! :)

I saw that one, but I don't know if I'd call it a bargain as it needs a lot of work to bring it up to scratch and that's without considering what the engine is like after 18 years of not being run.....
Wouldn't be hard to sink 4-5K into that bike just to get it looking good, so I'd hope for the new owners sake its mechanically ok.

I see there's another one on there now, guy is asking $15K for it but it's a bit of a bitser once you start really looking at it. I'd expect that this will end up being relisted at a lower price if he wants to sell it as $15K + is minter price range.
