Fuel gauge for ZX9R

My fuel gauge on my ZX9R has a mind of its own???
its never gives an accurate reading. jumping all over the place.
Can anyone give me ideas on what to check.

The sender unit is the first place I'd be looking - the floats can sometimes start leaking fuel into themselves & then there all over the place like a mad womens shit...

Remove & drain the tank, the sender will load into the base of the tank, check for obvious signs of float contamination & go from there

Don't forget to fit a new gasket when you re-fit the sender unit to the tank
