I know these thing are run on a purely informal basis with no commitment it was just a bit sudden that is all.

Everybody had a cry. Arguements, usual KB politics over wo would run what, people taking over other people events, toys throw out of cot. etc etc.

Fuck!
Not particularly happy about that one.. AWNR was a bloody great ride.
I understand we were dropping people who were able to lead it but hell if it was that desperate, you could of asked..
Ergh.. well i'll be there this wednesday folks. Banners blazing. It's been an honour to ride with you guys each and every wednesday.

I dont know whats going on in too much detail to be honest.
Plenty want to help, but they just end up bickering over who is right etc etc.

Sad to see the end to a great event.
Does not mean that when the time is right that I will not try to organise something similar or that Richard should not try to organise something. Just that Dan has closed that particular thread.

if someone is kind enough to give me a ride over to albany and back (got no form of transport at the mo) im more than happy to organise something, unless you guys group up and meet at panmure mobil i can walk there, and then walk to the carpark just up the road.
its a bitch without transport!

+1 to being sad that its over.
But Id like to say a HUGE to Big Dog who led it all the nights I attended.
Seriously - you taught me and many others so much - and it is appreciated.
Very professional, lots of fun, and you can smile at the fact that you have saved lots of off's and probably a life at some point.
Big Dog - you're a top bloke and I hope to be able to catch up and buy a beer or two as some small thanks!

i am surprised that it ended but more i was shocked that nobody was consulted about it. while this only effects a small number of riders I'm sure that anyone who has been on the AWNR will be gutted about this.

To the people attending, will there be any difference between AWNR and WOTS?
Nagash
30th June 2008, 23:34
Haha, WOTS is just another ride to replace AWNR.
Just go Musicman... you'll enjoy it just as much.

Motorworld Powersports and I are working out a bit of a plan. It wont be the same as previous.
- It will be fun and structured to cater for various riding abilities.
- Wont always be in the same carpark
- As a group will decide on an evening to do open road riding
- After July it will not be run on a weekly basis (might do in summer)
- Sessions will focus on set skills different each time and practised
And Im pouting as I still cant ride!

Oh I'm intending to, but it's rather silly when you think about it. If WOTS and AWNR are the same thing, why was AWNR ended? If people are going to keep doing it anyway, does it really matter what the name is?

I chose to end the AWNMR for several reasons. I do not wish those reasons to be made public but the people concerned are welcome to PM me.
for fucks sake - its a internet thread - People around here talk about politics etc etc - its pathetic.
Its not about politics - its about egos.
The thread had a life of its own - who cares who started it - let it live.
Its sad - because it was one of the great things (in this area) about KB.

Yeah I have a seminar to go to at 7pm near Constellation Drive so if it finishes early enough I'll come round first to the car park and if nobody's there I'll go to Bar Africa. See you all there (maybe)!

but why did you have to end it?
It wasnt yours.
You didnt turn up for like a year.
And you didnt run it.
Hardly your call to end something that lots of other people benefited from.
It turned into its own thing. Its not the same as what we original organised 18 months ago.

The offer is on the table...is there anyone out over the shore, or out west that actually wants to run the wed nights. Im out in Panmure and would rather not have to commit myself due to study and map etc..I only offered as I felt it was shut down suddenly and everyone left with the pondering question as to "why" I like helping bikers dont get me wrong but if I run it it would be fortnightly and eventually get changed to a thursday, so the group can get to know the atnr folks at the pub...then when comfortable and confident ride with that group....

Despite the backstabbing done by a particular person (for god knows why), life goes on and so should the learning......
I have had a chat with The Hovel, he has asked me to start a new ride (his puter has crashed)
I will be stepping down from running the ATNR (had enough of the politics and need a change) and have created the N.A.S.S. (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=77111) (North Auckland Street Skills) and will be activley involved with it.

I'm probably a couple of months away from getting my 1st bike. But if you could keep this thing going for a few months just for me, that would be sweet. Cheers...
Seriously though, awesome opportunity for nubs like my self to learn without having to pay through their teeth.
Hope you guys can put the politics aside for the sake of us new or soon to be bike riders

:2thumbsup Big THANKYOU!!! to Qkchk and The Hovel!!!! YAH!!!
Awesome that it will continue, it just makes it easier as you both are over that side of the city, it also means I can focus on Map properly. Dawn ya ran ATNR well, and thanks to that I have made some great friends. Life long friends, so Thank you. Both you and The Hovel have my support for continuing the wed nights and hopefully we can get both groups together for a weekend ride at some stage.
I intend to call in now and again to say hi to everyone and see how its all going;) This makes my day!!
As for the other so n so very dissapointing that is not what i call fair to anyone, left riders concerned and pulling the plug on something which was very useful. At least now it will be a hell of alot better.
Big hugs guys!!!

Your right, its a pity egos had to get involved and mess up a good thing. I must say that i enjoyed my ride when i went there, even though i had no idea of where i was going and some of the others with me was none the better lol. Perhaps after looking back at the b/s, politics, pc ness and egos that run it off the rails, some stratigies are needed to be put into place to avoid things ever getting messy again?:soon:
