I encountered a lot of ice driving to work this morning July 1st, so I thought I should do my civic duty and give everyone a heads up. There's plenty of highly visible white ice around, so there's bound to be some black ice too. Probably the worst I saw was at the Eastern end of Moorhouse ave. And the car park here at work is covered in the stuff. Most of the major roads seem to have a ice free line, but I reckon the quiet suburban streets could be real tricky. Be careful!

Drift drift!
(on a more serious note, cheers for the heads up)

Yeah. I sent my boss a TXT about 20 minutes ago saying I'll be late this morning. I'll wait until the sun hits the road before I leave today.

Our flatmate fell off his pushbike going down the hill due to black ice. Went back home and took the car.
I took the car in today - saw a few brave souls our on their motorcycles (a Repsol CBR1000RR and a red R6 no less). I hit a couple of sneaky patches here and there and was generally pleased with having AWD.

Still, be very careful! There will be sneaky patches in the shade...

Ha ha I was having great fun playing slip n slide this morning.
mst of the trip wasn't bad apart from some unexpected sliding action on a couple of corners and trying to brake. A little care went a long way.
Up over the Moorhouse bridge was fun I was slipping and sliding every which way and scaring or maybe just frightening them as I went up.:sweatdrop

Well I managed to get to work ok without any loss of traction (that I was aware of) but even at 9am there was still a fair bit of white stuff on some parts of the journey and still a few patches of ice here and there.

It's best to avoid bridges altogether when it gets icy, especially when it's like it was last night/this morning. The lack of any sort of insulation under them (like dirt on roads) means they tend to ice up quickly and badly. It's bad enough with four wheels sometimes, two would be horrible.

Didn't have a problem coming from Burwood/Shirley into central city at 7:30am.Only place that felt slippery was Lake Terrace Rd where it goes between the golf course and round the right hand bend through the trees.

I ended up losing traction yesterday on a forklift and had to get another forklift to drag it back to where it could grip again! lol
The others at work found it very funny
