For those of you that missed it

African Odyssey - the movie

Tonight and tomorrow night (July 1 and 2) African Odyssey is showing at The Academy Cinema - under the Auckland Central Library at 6pm.

There's a bit of a write up in Kiwi Rider. It appears four friends with little riding experience and little money buy four dungers and ride from the bottom of Africa to London. The guy riding the 1990 250 off road bike must have been &#%#@ sore.

I was talking to Brandon at The Wall Cinema in Rotorua on Monday, he has a copy of the movie & is keen to show it if there is enough interest from locals, it'd be cheap & there is a bar there too :apint: Who's keen?

Cheers

Their interview, on Breakfast this morning, said that they will be screening in Wellington on the 13th of July at The Paramount.

I'd recommend the Bluebridge, since your mate Helen now owns the other ones :pinch: You can stay at my place when you get here

Did you miss the Geraldine showing?

Yep, damned good movie. It was also interesting to have 3 of the 4 guys there for a question and answer session afterwards. Definitely the grassroots of adventure motorcycle travel.

The DVD can be bought through the site. Just scroll down the page to their home page to the link or go here,

http://www.endemicworld.com/Events.htm

When asked what they used to plan where they were going and to get around they responded with something like "we bought a map in Capetown and drew on it with a pencil". So with no GPS and a compass packed away if navigating by the sun wasn't working too well they set off.

Another rider we bumped into said he'd seen every adventure motorbike movie and this was the best. I haven't seen much but I thought it was hilarious because against all logic and wisdom they set off on an adventure with poor bikes, not much riding experience and pull it all together with some real luck at times.

Well worth the watch.

Ok.. I went in and saw Nic's mum today, and the DVD's are $20. She is taking orders at the mo, and seemed rather surprised by the amount of interest! Let me know if you want one... add about $3.50 for postage.

I went and watched the movie last night in Wgtn. It was great fun and very well edited. 3 of the guys were at the Premier and answered a few questions after the movie. Well done!

There may have been 1 person watching that was very disappointed as prior to the show I overheard her saying "I think it's about mountain bikes, I hope it is..."

bloody hilarious - It was like some guys in the 70s or 80s going touring with no idea - no offense intended  just really basic adventuring spirit without the modern trappings.
