what pants do you wear?
and are they any good.
I've got some oneal ones and i dont really like them much,
they feel to thin and my hinged knee guards just root them.
so it time for a new pair , i want a rugged pair that'l handle the knocks,
karl

I have Scott gear and it wears very well and fits my knee braces but by far the best wearing gear i have had is my Shot gear. I have a pair of size 36 shot pants and a large top i will sell.

Stay away from Shift. Just remove the f.
I really need pants with a good leather inside knee. I wear holes in them with a few rides otherwise.

Ive got Oneil gear, its pretty crap, the gloves are totally shagged after about 3 months, the pants have about 5 or six little rips in them and a huge hole at the knee (and i dont wear knee braces). The shirt has worn good though, had a few decent offs at kimmys on the hard dry clay and it hasnt damaged it.. I tend to roll my sleves up though, and my forearms take the hit instead of the shirt :angry2: I think they are Oneil element style, would recomend staying away from that :)

Ha ha thanks Cheese but I've got some Fly pants that are lasting well even though they are a bit bulky in the knees.
Triple layer die-cut leather knee panels are sewn to the pant with Kevlar reinforced Aramid thread for ultimate wear protection; Patent pending, FLY Traction Knees are fully integrated into the leather knee panel to give the rider increased contact with the bike; Generous contoured knees to accommodate all types of knee braces and guards;
They last well but like I said they are a bit bulky in the knee area and sometimes get caught on stuff. Not sure what pant I'll try next.

Acerbis Impact pants, the leather on the knees wears after a while, but not a major, seem to go good ( get them off trademe cheap :) ).

The best pants are the brands that are made in Korea by Hyun Jin Industries, generally the high-end models of most popular brands such as Fox, Alpinestars, Thor, No Fear etc are all made by the same factory - the only differences come down to individual manufacturers design and material selection.
You can't really bag a particular brand without classifying the model as most brands will have two or three (or more) price levels with the cheapest lines usually made in Taiwan or China. So to say brand X is shit is a bit misleading, but perhaps brand X's range of 'Spanker' pants is crap because they are made to a low cost/price point in China, whereas the same brands top line 'Bling' range could be made in Korea and be awesome - the difference is in the $100-$200 difference in retail price that covers the cost of higher quality materials and assembly.
The other thing to consider is the environment you use the pants in - for instance somewhere like Woodhill (mainly sand - abrasive) or in the central Plateau (abrasive volcanic soil/pumice) is going to be a damn sight harder on pants than riding on grassy farmland.

i have tried most brands over the years, you def get what you pay for, all the top end stuff now has genuine leather in the knees to accoutn for braces,

i have found alpinestars to last the best out of anyof them, but i currently have fly which has been standing up quite well, and also a set of no fear which last,

ive been using no fear pants for ages now, never worn any holes or anything in them, even with hinged knee braces, they're the more expendy model - cant remember what tho.

All my gear is Alpinestar its a great product the only thing i have had a fault with is the knee pads it you hit somthing hard enough they bend at the knee cap area and dont pivot. Have to get a hammer to make them straight :bash:

To repeat what I said in my earlier post: If this thread is going to have any real use for KB'ers we really should be posting the model of pants as well as the brand - saying O'Fox pants are crap is a meaningless statement as that brand may have 3, 4 or more price/quality levels.
