I know Meon3 and myself will probably be labelled as bad parents by some for doing it but we helped son finance his second bike today.....2003 RS250... What a coooooool bike...wish my parents were as stupid as his are! :whocares:

Rode back from Auck in the pissing rain today ... motorway drivers suck! :angry2:

I think he's out sleeping in garage with it now.

Here's me still with my 91 ZZR.

yes if that makes you bad parents we must be bad ones too, we financed our son into a cbr250rr, he has recoently sold it but loved it while he had it, i'm sort of relieved he's not riding around on it now as he had the tendency to go way too fast on it

Yes it's dangerous, but you can't bubble wrap kids forever. I only dreamed of that when I was young. I'm sure he'll enjoy it immensely :niceone:

I bet he thinks you're the bees knees

Respect, My parents financed my Fixxer, love it to bits and my parents for helping me.

Also to make your son really happy, give him a copy of the Top Gun soundtrack  He'll love dangerzone while blasting around

Little bugger hasn't given me a ride yet, got home late and he gave me milking off on condition I washed it for him.

He is probably more carefull on road than me, Knows what broken bones feel like from years of MX. Bloody cool to go riding with your kids tho :cool2:

Nah, from what you've posted he sounds pretty level headed. Good on ya, my parents half paid for my first bike but it certainly wasnt anything like a RS250 Priller :Punk: You might want to consider an advanced riding school or maybe a track day with him? I take it hes got good helmet, gloves, boots etc?

Plus doing the dishes for the next 2 months.... and oh yeah keeping his room tidy as well.... lol.... oh thats right he is a teenager...lol.

So that would make my parent's good then as they wouldn't help me onto a bike?

Have fun out there with your son, bet he's out there now polishing it.

BAD BAD PARENTS....NO BISCUIT!

On a smaller note, are you looking to adopt a house trained 26yr old???

Also to make your son really happy, give him a copy of the Top Gun soundtrack  He'll love dangerzone while blasting around.Man, you really like that soundtrack don't you...how many posts (and threads) has it been on now? ;)

Aha, so it *was* an RS250. What did the insurance end up costing, then?

He's a lucky little bugger to have you guys as parents. My mum always went absolutely spare at the idea of me getting a motorcycle while I was living at home.

I take it he already has some riding experience, then? On the dirt, or small road bikes or summat? Hopping straight onto a 70hp two-stroke racer as a first bike could be a bit fraught for some.

But I'm sure he'll enjoy it :)

And once he moves on he can keep it as an F3 racer, if he so desires.

Beautiful stuff.

I don't understand how you can be bad parents.

By the sounds of it you've raised a fine boy who can now handle a powerful machine at a young age. Plus support his interests financially.

I can only hope to be as successful as Melon3 and you.

BTW - has the boy joined up here yet? If not get him on, we need pics of his baby.

Damn I'm jealous...

Yeah. Been racing MX for years, RMZ250. Traded RG150E on it. In some ways it is alot safer than the 150 as we ride mostly country roads cruising at 100-120 and it was a little slow in overtaking department! Do not have to take as big risks!

Coming from a daughter of a "bad" parent who helps with the purchasing of a bike, I can say from the daughters perspective that there is NO WAY you are a bad parent. You are the coolest kind of parent coz u take an interest in what your kid wants to do and you can hang out while doing it. Also, your son/daughter will be the envy of all their mates coz you are way cooler than their parents :headbang:
.....

Thanks dad!! :innocent:

BASTARDS hahaha na just jokes. You guys are not bad parents at all. My folks refuse to pay anything on the buying side of the bike (thier little way of showin how they feel) but my dad pays my insurance and although my mom worries they have come to accept it and stuff.:not: :not: . That there rs will be a hell load quicker than the old rg hmmmm :devil2: :devil2:

My folks topped up my paper-run savings to help me buy a DT100 when I was 15 - to get me to college and make me "more independent"
(I was the youngest - I think they wanted me out of the house)
I sold my son the wifes car(too cheap of course but I refused to just give it to him) and the proceeds went to towards getting me back into biking (yay) after many years absence.

It's great when you're parents are into the same thing you are, and are able and willing to help you out :cool2:

as long as the kid does'nt take advantage and ruin the bike, it's all good to help your kids.

I was banned from having anything to do with motorcycles as a kid! Took me till I was 34 to get a bike.

Yeah...had to HP in my name, 15 too young. Then insurance in my name and he is named rider. Because of my wonderfull record :innocent: 40% rebate.

$13000 full cover, $1250 year. $2000 plus if not had rebate.

Protecta

Will hunt round this year see what we can get, but was not about to ride out without insurance.

All went for a ride tonight. ZZR wont touch RS on back windy roads!

BAD PARENTS! Irresponsible, indulgent, short-sighted, foolish in the extreme...

I made sure my 2 sons grew up fully aware of how dangerous, expensive and pointless motorcycling is... And made it clear to them that they can borrow my car any time they like.

No sleepless nights for me...

MAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNN, i had to finance my RG through my dad - quite posibly the dumbest thing you could ever do.
Ended up repaying it 3 times!!!!!!!!!! Banks and Credit Union had better intrest rates.
