Well it has been a scary time for me. Money has been really tight. The Farrier (Horse Shoeing) business has not been going well for me. I've tried applying for other jobs but have not had much luck. After a lot of thought I have decided to return to Nursing (Was a RN in Tauranga back in 2003) after nearly 5 years of not working as one. I had until September this year to get a job Nursing or I would have had to do a return to Nursing course ($1300 of full time study). Applied to the Nursing Council for an Interim Practicing Certificate so I could apply for a job as a RN in Whangarei's Orthorpaedic (Bones) Ward. Had the interview Monday. Was nervous as hell. Really hate interviews. They told me that them would ring on Wednesday to let me know. Wednesday came and went. Not call. I really thought that I hadn't got the job (I really suck at interviews).
Well just a few minutes I got a call from the Charge Nurse ta say I've got the job:Punk::woohoo::banana::wari: I am so relieved. Yep even happy.
OK I still have some hard work ahead of me. Got ta do 60hour of Profession Development before November and get tested for competency, but still at least ball is rolling now.
PS: My Biker Nick for BOP CC's was "Nursey". Yer I know. Not the best of Nicks, but one I grew to appreciate.

Congrats Doug,
Next time you're down this way you can combine all your skills at once. One horse with locked stifle, so very difficult to shoe - needs shoeing; one horse with colic, needs nursing; one motorcyclist with only one working arm - needs shooting. :dodge:

Good on you, all the best with the new job.
Horse shoeing (Farriering) will have given you a good firm reassuring grip! :shifty:
That will help you calm any nervous patients. (works for horses doesn't it? :blip: )
Should be worth something on it's own! (IMHO) Cheers John.

Blackadder: We told them that if the Queen was having a party, that Nursie always goes as a cow. From that moment, he was doomed. All we had to do was escape, return, and kill the cow.
Queen Elizabeth I: How could you be sure it was not Nursey?
Blackadder: Because, Lady, Ludwig was a Master of Disguise. Whereas Nursie is a sad, insane old woman with a udder fixation. All we had to do was kill the one who looked like the cow.

At least being a nurse when the patient pisses you off you have to refrain from hitting them in the guts with the rasp, try sticking a thermometer up thier arse instead.
First part of 60 hour refresher course-Q1 What is the difference between an anal thermometer and standard one?

My poor brain. Oreintation all day and next ta no hands on. I learn better doing. Not complaining too hard cause I know it will not be long before I'll be wishing ta have an easy no hands day as I will be a blur rushing around patients trying ta get everything done.
Meet so many old faces that I had meet before. Some remembered me (but not sure that is a good thing yet ;) LOL). All in all a good day.
