I wonder how far from hom you have to go to get back down to $2.129? Which is closer to your place, Culverden, Cheviot or Waipara? I'm guessing that only Cheviot is likely to have gas at city prices ... hardly makes 35km each way to save 21c/litre worth it does it.

Either amberley or cheviot, so just end up paying the local gassys silly prices.

Mmmm indeed it is not worth it as it is very much out of my way.

I'm trying to dsave for a after year 2000 bike, use less gas etc, but cant save with fuel at this price.

This will help put today's prices into perspective.

I read a report today on the gas crisis (if that's what it is) with an amusing chart of the real cost of a barrel since 1861. It started out at about US$300 a barrel! Just as well folks didn't have cars in the 1860s. Imagine how valuable $300 was to people back then. Buy a small town for that.

By 1900 it was down to about $200. Didn't drop much though until WWII. From the 1940s it was smooooth cruising in V8s through the happy days of the 1950s and 1960s. That's the cheapest period.

Another report pointed to the inevitable US$150 being a key threshold after which lifestyles globally will change. They used an unusual phase like, the Suppliers price would become destructive to demand [I sensed a subtle hint to OPEC in there]

Oh yeah. If you don't like today's prices. Just wait a few months and you will look back and LOVE today's prices.

When it comes to filling the bike I really DON'T give a rats what the price is, I go for the highest octane.

I don't nana it to conserve the gas cos my Buell has a learning chip and adjusts itself to maintain the optimum fuel economy and performance.

Last fill was the most expensive yet...$30 and I can do 300 kms before the petrol light comes on. Have never run it dry so don't know EXACTLY how far I can go once the light comes on, the furtherset I've done on reserve is another 30kms.

So even with fuel prices as they I am still happy that :2thumbsup

PS: the car costs $120 to fill on 91 and I get just over 500kms outta that (!!!!) buuuut I can make a tank last 6 weeks in the car!
Pretty much use the bike for EVERYTHING.

I understand the outburst when petrol goes up, but as others have said, theses not alot we can do about it, we need it, we have to pay for it. Those other two products mentioned above, nows thats something to grizzle about, but not alot do, we need it we pay for it. Personally, I dont give a shit what petrol cost, it will never stop me form doing what I want on/in a vehicle. Same as smokes, put the price up all ya want Government people, I dont care, I am happy to contribute to the $900 million in taxes every year. First time I called into a BP today with the XT and filled up with 98.
It runs much smoother, less surging and pulls cleanly from low rpm.

yea I know, but its more effort than you think.
you need to get the suger from the fruit by fermenting it and then mix that with the yest for up to a month and then you can distill and filter it.
using fruit adds another process and even more time to an already reasonably lengthy process.
