Just looking to get kitted out before I get my first bike, and during the test rides that I have done I found that my glasses fogged up with the visor of the helmet down, so I had to ride with the visor up. What helmets do you guys recommend for those of us who have to wear glasses?

One with a vent. :eek5:

Or if you can't get one with a vent in it, put a small piece of plastic or whatever so that the visor cannot close fully, leaving a small crack allowing air to circulate, works a treat.

Or get a fog City insert.

Or a pinlock visor

(There's stacks of info on them on here).

Or, and my personal recommendation - get Lasik. It is superb.

I suggest getting a prescription-ground visor. I stole the idea from the guys who make prescription windscreens.

I'm disappointed with you Hitcher. I was certain you were going to ask where you would get a helmet with glasses from.

I'd like a helmet with contact lenses.

I have an Arai Chaser with a pinlock visor insert which works very well even on the clodest and wettest days up 'ere on the plateau. Generally it will keep my glasses clear provided the chin, visor and top vents are open. Oherwise I use a little Cat Crap on my glasses lenses.

Just bought an HJC Carbon helmet at the Boyds sale wo will find out how well that works this weekend.

I have a Shoei multitec that comes with a pinlock. It NEVER fogs up my glasses unless I put a nose mask on as well.

I just keep my visor open?

We have two HJC helmets and two FFM helmets. In direct comparisons, the FFM helmets fog up much much quicker than the HJC. FYI.

I like my Nolan 102, it has the pinlock system to stop/limit fogging and the flip up makes life so much easier for putting your glasses on/off.

Had a N100 for about 10 years now and really like the flip face with glasses. In fact like them so much I brought a N102VPS this morning with the pinlock system. Now just need a cold day to try it. Oh hang on, maybe today, tomorrow.......

Looking forward to trying the VPS especially when riding into the sun.

Both hubby & I wear spec's, his is a nolan while I wear a shoei, both of which have flip up faces on them, makes it easier to get on /off without ripping glasess/face off, both have the fog insert and never had any prob with fogging, but I also always have a vent open to stop head getting sweaty & itching so could be that stopping it 2:blank:

I have a Nolan N102. No fogging and great for putting on and taking off without having to remove my glasses.

There is an N103 out now with the sunvisor on the inside which looks even better.

My Shoei Raid 2 is great with glasses. For really cold, damp mornings the visor has a lock to keep it open a crack. Enough to keep the air flowing but not enough to make my eyes water. YMMV

Always one - why cant someone ask a simple question without being bolloxed for it... If you dont like it, find another thread to read.

As for the glasses issue, I dont wear them but my brother does and he swears by the pin lock system... not sure how that stops his glasses from fogging but he says he has no probs

It's not a simple question. There are helmets and helmets, glasses and glasses, heads and heads, riders and riders, clothing and clothing, weather and weather. All of which conspire together to contribute to the phenomenon called "glasses fogging".

My glasses fog something chronic in a Shoei when the dew point and speed are low and excessively chronic when I'm wearing a neck tube or a high collar. The problem isn't as severe in my HJC. I think that nose guards are a waste of space as they compete with my glasses for the available space on the bridge of my nose. Others swear by them, but most of those advocates don't actually wear glasses either -- rather they feel compelled to offer what they think are helpful suggestions in a thread that doesn't relate to them.

Pinlock visors stop visor fogging, not glasses fogging. Again don't bother trying to explain the difference to people who don't wear glasses but again feel compelled to offer what they think are helpful suggestions in a thread that doesn't relate to them.

Theres another similer thread, follow the link, you may find some more usful info there:

What most people don't seem to relise is that glaases fog very easily and usually way befor the visor fogs, when its bad and both fog then you can't see anything at all!!! and thats a very hairy situation to be in coz it seems to happen in a flash, one minute your copeing the next your blind!!

I wear glasses, and have an HJC helmet, not sure of the model but it has vents either side of the chin and a bigger one right in the middle of the chin. I find that if its wet out my glasses will fog if the visor is fully closed no matter what speed I do, i just leave it open a smidge and it keeps clear, its a bit colder but on really bad days a thin ballaclaver is all good. On nice clear days I can ride with the visor closed no problem, just have to remember to open it when I start to slow for lights etc. I found that trial and error over a day or two was the best way to work out what worked and what didn't with my particular helmet.

I have only had this one so don't know if any are better than this or not, but would suggest that it would be fine. If you really wanna know the make let me know and I will have a look. :done:

Ooooh, Hitcher... was that a dig at me  It may be that I dont wear glasses but I do understand the pinlock system - which is why I said "not sure how that stops his glasses from fogging" but he states it has made a difference so I am only going by what Im told by someone who uses it - besides all suggestions and ideas contribute to a thread being a thread... with the exception of those who bag the thread just cos it doesnt suit them
