What do you reckon about this for a first jacket for commuting etc?

Pretty good considering they are normally $200. You might want to find out about the thermal liner for it though.

I have one and would say they feel well made and sturdy...but I don't wear it in med/heavy rain, cos the pockets leak (buggered up my cellphone). Non-rainy days only therefore...

Aside from that, I like them and for $60 you can't go wrong.

You might want to double check that site though... had a look and it loks like the diablo is $199 - but the additional winter liner is $59... are you confusing the two perhaps?

FWIW Ive got the Ixon Access Long jacket, and its awesome in even this evening's rediculous rain in Welly. The brand seems solid. :scooter:

Hmm I think you might be right :( But this isn't made crystal clear at all. The description describes the jacket itself. It even says, "Winter liner sold seperately" It's only the Specific info line that makes me think that it's only the liner, where it says

Specific info:
IXON DIABLO WINTER LINER BK S

Might have to leave it, sounds dodgy

Wouldn't say necessarily dodgy, just not a very clear website catalogue. Pity, I was getting quite excited about scoring a second cheap jacket.

Ask the retailer to clarify what you get for $60, looks like a cock up to me. Maybe if you pointed it out to them nicely they might offer a discount from the $200 price.

Yep I've just sent them an email pointing out the cock-up.

New direction for thread: What's the best place to get a cheap textile jacket suitable for getting to school and weekend rides about the place?
Requirements: not really bulky, available in small, not leather

You're probably on the right track looking online. You're not going to get much for less than that Diablo (that's worth anything that is). I got my stuff from a local bike shop, but Im in Welly.

Yeah I'm not expecting anything at the $60 mark, looking at the $100 mark (still at the bargain bin end of things I know)

Quickly order 5 before they realise that they fucked up the pricing. I've got one of these and they are pretty sweet. Just don't put your phone in your pocket in heavy rain. (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=67544)
