Massachusetts Congressmen Want UN to Replace US Soldiers in Iraq (June 26, 2008)
US Congress Members James P. McGovern, John F. Tierney, and William D. Delahunt warn that a long-term security agreement between Iraq and the US will lead to endless war and a permanent presence of US forces in the Middle East. Instead, the congress members propose that UN forces should take over in January 2009 and that the US normalize relations with neighboring Syria and seek rapprochement with Iran. (Boston Globe)

But for one thing unsaid: the Yanks, and its poodles should pay for everything.
isn't that what you're supposed to do when you break something without permission?

Nah. UN tours are shit. You get told off for capping the locals. And you're supposed to pick the bodies up instead of leaving them where they fall..

Does the UN still exist??

Does the UN still exist??

Yes it does and apparently with no help from the US.
Haven't paid their dues for years.

Wouldn't that qualify as cruel and unusual punishment?

Why should the United Nations bail out the USA for one of the most monumental stuff ups in the history of the world? The US "invaded" with no UN mandate. Now, because they don't like seeing their troops getting killed and maimed for no tangible benefit, they've lost their appetite for armed conflict.

As ye sow, so shall ye reap. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

The US created this mess. They owe it to the people of Iraq and the rest of the world to put it right.

What the hell are you talking about?
This country is better off than it has been for thirty four years according to the statistics dept.
Do you know something they don't.
What has this Government done specifically that you think needs fixing?

It has annoyed me immensely and offended my innate sense of style.

That needs fixing

Well I most certainly hope you have conveyed your thoughts to mssrs. McGovern, Tierny and Delahunt, they will be most relieved to know you are in agreement with them.

Check UN figures also.

Statistics don't lie...although Statisticians can be liars.
I note that those who are down on the government are short on supplying facts to substantiate their assertions.
They resort to name calling. The classic means of demonising a person or entity.
eg. Butcher of Baghdad, Smiling Assassin.

Question: After the recent adverts in Australia re New Zealand and 100% Easy. Would we be better off being Eastern Australia and being governed from there. No military to stop them now and who would care if Aussie did take us over, the yanks certainly wouldnt

They haven't improved as much as us over the last ten years.
So no! we probably wouldn't have been better off being governed from there.
The way the polls are going that may not be so for the future. Better batten down the hatches Ladies and Gentlemen. .. we may be in for a rough ride.
