View Full Version : Bloody Hell, I am sick of this!!!
As some of you know my better half has got a job up north in Otaki. Anyway, our house is on the market, and the wife is up at Kapiti at the moment. Got a call yesterday saying there will be an Open Home on sat.
So being the procrastinator I am I now have to slog to get the house up to standard. I will be glad when it is all over!
Oh, I am on a "smoko break" at the moment....thank fuck for ciggies and a cold bottle of "V"

I was in a taxi today and on the radio was a warning that thieves are unlocking windows and doors at open houses and returning later for the telly.
do the rounds after too.

We're in the same position with our house in Tokoroa - open home on Sunday. Not likely to be a raging success with the weather forecast.
We haven't been living in it since April and only one bite in that time. Things are very slow indeed. Just dropped the price significantly as we don't really want to leave it empty and don't want to rent it out either. At least we don't have a mortgage on either place or that would hurt!
Good luck with yours today.

Took us 7mths to get rid of our place in Hamilton! :/
In that time, we dropped the price & had to spend $$ on urgent unexpected repairs (sinking peat due to 'drought' conditions) & lost a truck-load!!
I could've bought a couple of 1098s with what we lost.
In all that time we only had the one offer; and they came through the place at one of the early show-homes, but waited & waited and got it for bugger all... (Then the sods whinged about the thermostat crapping out!)
Good luck with yours Geoff - hope ours was an exception!

Thanks Jon (nice to hear from you!). Sorry to hear about your woes too. Yep, we've dropped the price by $40000 if that's what it takes to meet the market. Five bedrooms, 2 lounges and bought it for $36000 in 1980, haha!
We have a 2 bedroom bungalo in CHCH...we bought it 3 years ago at $161.5K, and are hoping now to get $205K...it's at the lower end of the market(read shabby)so that should help us a bit....but I would still be happy if we walk away with over $190...
Just will be glad when it's all over

people down the road from us have dropped their asking price by 100k and it still hasnt sold, and its in a good area with fantastic views over the harbour and city, all day sun, double garage, 4 bedrooms
At the moment - if you dont need to sell - you are better off keeping it.
Here is hoping (as a home owner) that with spring and lower interest rates coming that prices will start going up again to where they were last year.
However - with the cost of living at the moment - and no sign of that getting better - I doubt that there will be many buyers out there...

Latest news from Aucks is a 40% drop in house sales! Yep, those who can hang in there are better off if they do. But it always cycles, and give it another 12-18mths and I think the situation will reverse, at least that's what the local agents reckon.
We've made an easy $200k on our place so far and while we considered selling, we will keep it for another couple of years and see where it goes.

Bloody open home was a disaster...it started snowing just before the start of it...and it's still snowing....no one came through...only idiots would be about today!

Watch out there is a key out there that can get into most cars and the majority of houses.
It's called a DARKEY.

Bah, capitalists. No wonder the yoof of today are all leaving the shores.
The yoof are leaving because the average house has become unaffordable on the average wage.
Either the average wage needs to rise, or the average house price has to come down, or both of these things.
