Oh gawd.
Reckon the RSV-4 looks great... little bit Japanese IL4 like, but not as much as the 1098 at least. Be good to see in road trim, and race livery for that matter. Sounds ok on my laptop too, but almost anything does.
I remember when honda had the V4 market cornered now everyones making one

Pity they gave up back in the early 90's with the sportsbike... would have been mint to get a race tuned VFR750 in modern form!

Check how narrow the engine in is in this video.

You get a good look at after the 52 second mark.
Makes my 400 v4 look pretty big and silly. Mind you, that design didn't change all that much between 1986 and 1998.

Now what are the chances that ALL of the Italian words that LBTW knows can literally be put into one sentence? (and then some extra non-iti) ...

He never rode a VF750 for long then, not sure if there are words to describe that motor, other than FUCKED if you didn't have the valve clearances perfect, and the best oil on earth changed daily.

That's just one of the problems. The cams and rockers would eat themselves in no time at all without more maintenence than ride time. Went bloody well when it was going though, and it only cost me a bottle of bourbon.

Cam Chain?
Isnt that what gears are for?

Even Honda have caught up with the times and use cam chains now. The gear idea limits too many things. Ya cant bump compression without shelling out for high comp pistons, bloody honda over technicalising shit.

Horses for courses dude, gears are generally good for more revs, so if that's a big part of the design criteria they might make sense.
I see Buell's new rotax is chain driven to one cam which is gear driven to the other. Means the chain path is straighter, with a simpler tensioner required, cute.

Fair call, the gear driven second cam idea is a good one, acuracy would be the only issue. An easy tuning method is to have cams "dialed in" on most bikes, since tolerences on mass produced bikes tend to be a tad different, harder indeed with gear drives.

A little bit like a TL engine then?
You know some people say "My bike sounds like a Ferrari!" but which isn't? Well this one really sounds like a Carrera GT which I like! :shit:
It sounds very.... aggressive.

Then you should hear a Honda(I know:rolleyes:) Valkyrie with a Two Brothers six into six exhaust.:headbang:
I'm sorry but the April Irimera just sound like a VFR800 with a loud pipe. Why not be different and give us a twin pulse engine like the D16RR?

I understand the gears were a response to big bang engines eating whatever system was being used to drive the cams. The force required to open all those valves at once is more than the regular amount of force that is required of a cambelt than that operating the camshafts in a regular firing order.
But kinda retarded because the VFR400s, RVF400, CBR250RR (And CBR400? Dunno) were never big bang anyway. Nor the consumer targeted VFR750s/800s. And then there were the SP-1/2s, which were also gear driven.
Maybe it was just some weird 'racing heritage' shit marketing forced on the designers? Or perhaps somewhere, hiding in the most secret bowls of HRC are all the bits needed to convert these engines, and available if you know the part numbers.
