You're a pig. The signs should be obvious. A Pete's Bacon delivery truck should be a dead give away.

:mad:Ive been stalked twice online - on msn infact and once in person when I first moved to Auckland.
Was at uni, and the guy was late 40's he was waiting outside the hostel for me. Drove to a mates place up the road and he saw me drive past, I rang the cops etc. No idea what happened in the end but it scared me.
As for the msn thing, blinded by friendship, did some homework, talked to close friends and confirmed I was being stallked. I mean seriously who stays up till 1am to talk online, when it was an off chance I got home late signed in to check e mails then went to bed.
Or talking online to someone, only met them once in person and they say you are their best friend after that...creepy shit!!

How to get stalked? Provide lurid personal information and photos together with details of your email and preferably home phone and street address to absolute strangers. Engage in flirtatious behaviour and other come-ons. That should work a treat.

Yeah theres the online flurting, and most know where the line is drawn, but some take it a little too far. My "wish list" in the birthday thread was a prime example, everyone knew I was joking, but there was one who actually took it the wrong way and insisted on coming over.
When I explained it wasnt a serious post and that most of my posts arent seriously taken, excuses were made and it got weird.

Weird creepy, and causes one to become a little paranoid.
Little things like
mind controlling
playing on your beliefs
is one person online but in person is completely different
asks to do things to you like "can i touch/hug you when we meet"
Asks questions to get a response and its the same questions each time
sends texts every few days asking the same "how is your day going"
infatuated to the point "have to have contact"
Im a best friend and we have only met once
dosent like me being around other kbers flurting
the list goes on
In both cases on msn, the friendship started from 2 websites, was innocent to start with, chatted more on msn, and after a while I started feeling uncomfortable. The friendship got more and more intense even though it was online and i could not see the person.

Who Becomes a Stalker
Stalkers are usually isolated and lonely, coming from the "disadvantaged" of our society; however, a
stalker can occupy any place in our entire social spectrum. Often, the stalking may be triggered by a
significant trauma or loss in the life of the perpetrator, usually within at least seven years of the stalking
behavior. (For example, relationship dissolution or divorce, job termination, loss/potential loss of a
child, or an ill parent.) Most stalkers are not psychotic. In a comparative study of psychotic versus non-
psychotic stalkers (Mullen et al. 1999), 63% of the sample was found to be suffering from a common
psychiatric condition, such as major depression, personality disorder, or substance dependence--with
personality disorder being the most common diagnosis.
Cyberstalking and Cyberstalkers
Cyberstalking is an extension of the physical act of stalking; however, the behavior occurs using
electronic mediums, such as the Internet and computer sypware. Someone who is physically stalking
an individual may employ cyberstalking as another means to pursue, harass, or force contact. Or,
cyberstalking may be the sole means of surveillance and pursuit of the victim. The stalker may join
forums they know their target frequents, and pose as someone else in an attempt to contact their target,
or they may contact other members to get information about the target or defame their character. They
may use spyware to access their target's computer and the personal information contained within.
Given the vast distances that the Internet spans, a "pure" cyberstalker will never move beyond electronic
mediums and into physical stalking. Still, this does not mean that the behavior is any less distressing,
frightening, or damaging, and a cyberstalker's motives can fit any of the categories described above.
Moreover, given the ability of individuals to ‘mask’ their identity when using the Internet, linking the
harassment to one particular individual can be difficult. Programs that mask IP (Internet Protocol)
addresses, and anonymous remailers are merely two examples that hinder the identification of the
stalker and their (digital) location.
Intimacy Seeker
The intimacy seeker seeks to establish an intimate, loving relationship with their victim. To them, the
victim is a long sought-after soul mate, and they were meant to be together. Also, they may have the
delusion that the victim is in love with them--usually called erotomania. They may interpret any kind of
response from the victim as encouragement, even negative responses. This stalker may write letters,
send gifts, or call their victim. They may believe the victim owes them love because of all they have
invested in stalking them, and is very resistant to changing their beliefs. The intimacy seeker has an
inflated sense of entitlement, and if they recognize they are being rejected, this stalker may become
threatening, or may try to harm the victim in some way, sometimes using violence. (In this way, they may
become a rejected stalker, see above.) This stalker may become jealous if their victim enters or
continues a romantic relationship with another person. After the rejected stalker, the intimacy seeker is
the most persistent type of stalker. They are usually unresponsive to legal sanctions, viewing them as
challenges to overcome that demonstrate their love for the victim.
Incompetent Suitor
The Incompetent Suitor desires a romantic or intimate relationship with the victim but is impaired in their
social and courting skills. This stalker may be very narcissistic, and cut off from victim's feelings (lack of
empathy). The incompetent believes that anyone should be attracted to them. Typically, this stalker will
repeatedly ask for dates, or call on the phone, even after being rejected. They may attempt physical
contact by trying hold the victim's hand or kiss the victim, however, the will not become physically violent
or threatening. The incompetent suitor is less persistent than others, and is likely to have stalked
numerous others in the past, and will probably do so in the future. They will quickly stop stalking if
threatened with legal action or after receiving counseling.

Gahhhhhhhh that's some scary shit.
I've had someone infatuated with me. One simple act of kindness to her when she was at her weakest and she took it the wrong way. I felt bad having to brush her off so many times. But she has got over it I think. She stopped txting several times a day after about.. two or three weeks. No idea why she did that really, I'm no Brad Pitt. Just an ex-flatmate from way back when.
Good luck with your stalker!

Yeah seems like women tend to lean more towards emotional ties, and sometimes dont even know they are doing it. I'll admit that at one point i was texting my bf a little too much, which to me felt ok but to him it wasnt, if he hadnt brought it to my attention I wouldnt have known...lol.:bleh:

I had an ex who stalked me for a while. but he really was the harmless type.
The funniest thing he did was a couple of days before I got married he turned up at our house when the man was out and offered to "take me away from all this" and fly me over to Fiji. That he just wanted me to know I didnt have to get married if I didnt want to and that he would always be waiting.
Gawd I cant believe I went out with him in the first place. Longest 1mth relationship I ever had.

Interesting, i had an 'in person' stalker for awhile, solved it by moving cities....:niceone: and thank god he does not live in this country anymore. After that learned self defence and a big lesson about ex's
Funnily enough the worst online stalker i had was female!! Go figure! Nothing I ever said or anyway I acted could be mistaken for being interested in her and she knew i was straight??!! She finally gave up and left me alone after 6 months...

Conversely I tried snagging a lady a few years back, didn't stalk her or anything but I was pretty persistent. She finally put it on the line and turned me down. "Oh well, get over it" I told myself but I later discovered she was gay, so I didn't feel so bad.
I got a better one later anyway!!!!

What I cant understand is why people do it. Why the need to have that contact with someone who they are obsessed about and the urge to hide behind the computer screen.
Is it because they feel threatened in person about their image, fear of rejection within society while socialising out of place, worried about getting found out?
The mind controlling and playing on ones beliefs is some scary stuff, I almost ended up in a relationship because of that, and he was very much an egotistic "Im always going to be better than you" type of guy. Always made me feel bad bout myself and steered conversations to force me and others to compliment him. The fact he was romantic and affectionate alone with him was nice, but around other guys, I felt the vibe of where I had to be a different person and not the naughty flirtatious me. Also a controlling grip to my neck where his fingers dug into my nerves one evening while we were watching a movie with another of my mates as he walked past behind the couch, sent shivers down my spine. Im glad i trusted my gut feeling.
