View Full Version : The only bike up the hill today?..ya poofters!!!
That was fun!
Rode up to the Rimutaka summit to soak up the sunshine. By the stares of amazement and dropping jaws from the bystanders playing in the snow I take it I was the only bike that they saw all day.
The snow at the side of the road was all way down to the base of the hill. Bugger, I should have taken the camera.
Those Conti Snow Attacks work brilliantly. I was surprised how warm my gear kept me all arvo. Guessing it was close to freezing but I was as snug as a warm snug thing can be. I have Dri-Rider winter gloves that do a good job keeping out the cold, if not the wet. Riding home yesterday in a downpour that would have made Noah proud, and the gloves proved that teabags aren't the fastest material made for letting water soak through. If Dri-Rider go bust making waterproof gloves there's a market for their material in the tea industry.
So where were all you bunnies today? Wrapped around a heater .:cold:
Look at that blue sky, get out of the house.

Lucky boy. My understanding was they'd closed it at the turnoff to Kaitoke GoKart track.

Nice one MD!! "Snow attacks", I love it!!!
I heard on the radio this morning that a bus had wedged itself on the hill blocking both sides of the road and they were waiting for it to get moved by a crane or something.

Had a good ride too.
Was a bit concerned, since the roads have been wet and some have stayed frosty. That said, with the amount of wind we've had, the roads were just about dry everywhere, with just gravel to worry about in places.
So, all in all, t'was a very nice ride.
Hi MD
Poofters yeah right! We went up to the top of the hill on the ZRX just before you. Heaps of people up at the top checking out the snow! The last corner on the Hutt side just before the top was really wet and slippery.
Not really a good day to stop for an ice cream though

Yeah I did see one of those mobile electric signs ; Go back you fools sort of message. So I removed the sign's batteries and carried on :stupid:.
Saw a couple of cars coming down towards me with snowmen on their bonnets, which did make me think... eh, where can I build one on the bike for the return trip so it wont fall off.

Yeah, been there done that a few times...
100km/hr winds, vertical rain, lots of "moments".
Much more fun in summer.

Well I didn't see ya up there dude, I was at the rimutaka summit most of the day, having ridden up stark naked on slick tyres. Had to jump in the snow cause I wasn't cold enough. Packed my armpits with slush for the return journey. What ya wearing bike gear for, ya big girls blouse. :nono:
p.s. apologies to anyone taking that seriously, I am in fact a compulsive liar,I don't even know where Rimutaka is and I was indeed wrapped around a warm fire, drinking hot cocoa with my teddy bear.:laugh:
Haha and there I am away from the snow in Noumea this week.
Good on ya MD. I do hope they are heating Lisa Lewis's studio well enough for her.
